Pure gambling is not the best way. Taking 65% edge long run bets is however a sure-fire way to get extremely rich and is not gambling but rather an extremely smart investment. Billy Walters is worth over $100 million hitting 58%. Peter Tudor is a billionaire hedge fund manager hitting 60%. Your a fool to not make a 65% edge bet.

If you could hit 65% in any investment industry, you would be a billionaire and every investor in the world would give an arm and a leg to let you invest their money. You obviously don't get this because... nevermind.

i know who is not winning a CYA this year: Tim Lincecum

outside of knowing 1-2 guys who won't win the award - nobody knows who is going to get it. the people voting don't even know.

if my vote counts it is going to Gio, not Dickey.

let's face it: who would you want to win it?

1- guy who took 12 years to "figure it out" and have one banner year
2- guy who has only been in the league for 3 years and has been dominant, consistant and (to a lesser extent) thrived on a crap team with hardly any run support.

if they give the award to dickey or Gio, i could care less. no horse in race.

Atleast someone knows what they are talking about! Well said!

Ok, obviously this hasn't gotten through to everyone. No voters care what happened last year, 3 years ago, or 12 years ago. The Cy Young vote is about this year, and this year only. Hell, if it WERE about past years (Which it's not), I'd take Dickey because of the storybook season he has had coming out of nowhere, but once again, this is about 2012.

And if I were a betting man, I'd say when/if Gio doesn't win the Cy Young, we don't see these two homers on the boards until Gio gets is first win in 2013.

I'm not a homer, I am from Miami not Washington and he is actually related to me. Regardless, I'm not running off the boards for anyone regardless of who wins.

I'll be here as well after if Dickey wins. I think the Nationals are still making the playoffs and I heard Gio Gonzalez is the #1 starter.

Well, since about half of each of your posts have been in this thread, I figured it was a safe bet.

I think Dickey wins, followed by Cueto and then Gio. You Goi fellows seem to be adding stats that haven't happened yet. Like when you say Gio will be lights out for his next 4 starts, or just 3 shotout innings and he's ahead of so and so. What if Cain, Lohse and Kershaw outpitch Gio the rest of the way? He'll still be in 6th for ERA, and he'd be outside the ELUSIVE top 5 category that you must be in to win the Cy Young. WSH has some solid hitting teams to face (LA, MIL, STL, PHI), and Gio will pitch a few of those games. Mets have two series against the Marlins and Pirates (Who have cooled off) coming up, and Dickey will pitch atleast one of those games.

All in all, I have Dickey winning, with Cueto in second.

If anybody wants to do a little wager on the Mets against my Nationals, let me know. Game starts in 20 minutes.

Are you just here to gamble?
If so, I suggest you check the forum rules. This site may come in handy as well.

Well, it was a nice outing for Gio. He did what he was supposed to do against the Mets, but it's becoming fairly clear that the walks are his Achilles heel. I'd let it slide if it was an isolated incident, but it seems like this is pretty characteristic of him. 6 innings, 5 walks...he throws a lot of pitches and it sometimes prevents him from going deep in games.

Otherwise, congrats to MLB's first 19-game winner, for whatever it's worth.

How did Gio pitch? How many runs has he given up the last 22 innings? How many of those walks led to runs today? Who leads the league in wins? What team is currently 1st in MLB?

Sorry, I'm too in awe of Gio's 6-inning gem against the Mets' potent offense to reply.

The walks. The walks. THE WALKS. He throws a lot of pitches and he's not able to go deep in games. It doesn't matter that the walks don't always lead to runs. He still runs up his pitch count and the Nats have to defer to the bullpen earlier.
