It'd be terrible to see Dickey win. Cueto is having a better season and Is on an actual meaningful team unlike the mets...

For what it's worth, Dickey's xFIP is better than Cueto's, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Cueto regress a little bit.

If they finish with fairly close stats Cueto should still win as the Reds are arguably the best team in the NL (them and the Nats are close). Would've loved to see Stras finish the year as I think he would've had a shot as well.

Are you joking? Of course it matters. if your great on a crappy team then you shouldn't be awarded. You should be awarded for making your team reach the playoffs. Its most valuable and how can you be that valuable when your team is a cellar dweller.

This is the dumbest argument in the history of arguments. It's RA Dickey's fault the Mets bullpen is bad? Or the Mets can't hit? Maybe RA Dickey should have closed out more games or hit more homeruns, huh?

How about the difference in ball parks as well. Gets to pitch in the spacious Citi field.. Dickeys ERA is nearly 1 run worse away from home. Cueto in GABP still has consistent numbers. We have seen Dickey get destroyed by the long ball in GABP.

Telling thing is his July and August numbers.. 5.13 ERA in July and over 3 in August including the thumping in GABP the Reds put on him.

In late September when Dickey sports an above 3 ERA and 16 wins this discussion will long be over.

How can you be considered a valuable player when you can't help your team to the playoffs. That is a very strong argument and is used by most voters unless the play has an unbelievable season. (Which Dickey is having a very good season but not unbelievable.)

haha do you really believe that a player on a bottom dwelling team deserves a mvp or cy young award for helping the team to a below 500 record. Come on now bud.

Run support doesn't matter unless you're using the horrible "Wins" metric to try and determine how good a pitcher is. Which you shouldn't be. So run support doesn't matter.
