I am assuming this is a joke right? Orel Hershiser just said that Gio Gonzalez is one of the best left handed pitchers in baseball. In case you don't know who he is, Orel Hershiser was a three-time All-Star and won the Gold Glove, Cy Young Award, NLCS MVP and World Series MVP with the Dodgers in 1988. He also holds the Major League record for most consecutive scoreless innings pitched, pitching 59 consecutive innings without giving up a run from August 30, 1988 to September 28, 1988.

I am going to make the assumption and say that Hershiser probably knows a little bit more about baseball and pitching than you do.

Point being, Gio is DEFINITELY a horse.

So pitching 6 innings a game is considered a horse?

Now that we've established that Gio is DEFINITELY a horse, would you say he is more likely to be an Appaloosa or an American Quarter horse?

Well if your referring to one game, 9 innings shutout would be considered a horse wouldn't it?

I'm not talking about one game. As johnandrew has clearly stated multiple times, gio's innings count is not elite, therefore he is not a horse. Thank you.

Well if a Cy Young candidate isn't a horse I don't know what is.

Dickey has been in the league since 2001, NOW is when he is a horse. 1-2 good seasons, if thats considered a horse then well I guess we have different understandings.

Kyle Loshe has a real decent shot

14-3
2.81
192.0

Gio

19-8
2.95
186.1

So Loshe has more innings pitched and a lower ERA than Gio.

Haven't seen him talked about in one Cy Young discussion. Other categories aren't up to par.

While we are on the topic of horses, I should add that Lohse is my dark horse.

If he had some run support and they played defense behind him, he'd be winning right now.

Its tough when you have a bunch of AAA players and a handful of MLB players on your roster....

Cliff Lee is pitching real well tonight..

Thats one of the reasons why Gio has so many wins. Sure he is a very good pitcher but his offense is light years ahead of the Mets right now
