Oh man you know it. And then the great story of the offseason will be how Adam Greenberg took the eventual National League Cy Young Award winner deep in his only 2012 plate appearance

The following factoid was mentioned on SNY in one of Dickeys recent starts.

"The last time a NATIONAL League Starting Pitcher won 20 games
on a losing ballclub was Greg Maddux on the Cubs in 1992"

What they didnt mention in that particular broadcast was that
Maddux also won the Cy Young in 1992. ( so felix was not a barrier breaker)

The Cubs went 78-84 (.481 win%)
Maddux went 20-11 (25.64% of team wins) with the following stat line

GP GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB SO W L WAR WHIP ERA
35 35 9 4 268.0 201 68 65 7 70 199 20 11 8.9 1.01 2.18

Greg Maddux Stats - ESPN

The Mets are currently 72-84 (.461 w%)
Dickey is currently 20-6 (27.77% of team wins) with the following stat line.

GP GS CG SHO IP H R ER HR BB SO W L WAR WHIP ERA
33 32 5 3 227.2 185 75 68 22 54 222 20 6 5.3 1.05 2.69

R.A. Dickey Stats - New York Mets - ESPN

While history does not dictate what will happen this year,
it does speak to certain assumptions regarding team record and the CY.

I am pretty sure it counts each and every view regardless if you have viewed multiple times. I know I have personally been in this thread at least 24 times lol

as a dodgers fan, i really think they should have pulled him earlier. no sense injuring that hip any further when a W is prettymuch guaranteed.

however, as a fantasy baseball player i feel your pain! LOL

Sorry but I have to laugh if your league uses shutouts as a scoring parameter.

Kimbrel has some pretty historic numbers, closer or not. All-Time-Greatest numbers. But the ESPN guys say he can't win it so go ahead back to arguing back and forth about Dickey and Gio.

They have already said that he cannot worsen this injury.

It is a head to head points league, why is using a small adder for a CGSO laughable? I can see that being true in roto, but I don't see why your sarcastic comment has any merit whatsoever in H2H points.

kimbrel ERA is best in the NL, K/9 is best in MLB (by alot), WHIP is the best MLB.

Well, you can close the book on Cueto's season. Here's where he currently stands in some major categories:

19 wins (3rd)
2.78 ERA (4th)
5.7 WAR (2nd)
217 IP (3rd)
Outside the top 10 in Ks and WHIP

It looks like Cueto's best hope is the WAR argument, but Kershaw leapt him in that category after leading the league for much of the season. Cueto's ERA was 2.44 as recently as August 18th...it's those disastrous September starts that really did him in.

Other than that...eh, not looking like a winner to me. He should certainly finish in the top 5...I don't think he'll break the top 3 now that Kershaw is back with a vengeance.

Cain will make his final statement tonight...personally, I need him to get lit up a little bit to help my fantasy baseball cause

Here's my guess-
1. Dickey
2. Gio
3. Kershaw
4. Cueto
5. Kimbrel
6. Medlen
7. Chapman
8. Cain
9. Losche

Looks about right to me...although Kimbrel/Chapman have no business being ahead of Cain, Lohse and Kimbrel. I guess you have to assume not every voter is gonna use their noggin
