They should have a rule that you can't be over 25 to be a ROY candidate. Harper is having a better season than plenty of major leaguers at age 19.

If anything it should be harder for him! Todd Frazier is one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet in a big league uniform hands down! He appreciate what he has and the chances he has gotten and has taken advantage of them! From a guy that has been sent down n called up many times. Then I look at Harper and the hot head he is and wonder why people even like him, if he wins rookie of the year in the highlights it should show him and the catch he looked stupid on in Cincinnati and when he went in the dugout and took anger out on a cooler i think all to get bit by the bat haha!...also im not sure where else but he also lost another fly ball in the air at another park...he's a hot headed kid, so lets add a character clause in with the R.O.Y...cause he wont pass that

Agreed, but Harper is a media darling... I guess it rests in the hands of the BBWAA

If Harper's run continues and his power numbers are a little closer, I think they will give it to him. Both teams are doing very well, so you can discount that from the debate unless either stumbles. According to Fangraphs, they also sport an identical WAR of 2.9. Should make for an interesting finish.

According to Yahoo, Frazier is going back to part time duties as soon as Votto comes back. Harper will win ROY.

Anyone that says Harper will be a bust, is a moron. ROY is locked up if he gets 20 hr and 50+ rbi, he already has 20 dbls, 6 triples and 13 steals

Let's compare this year's NL ROY race to last year's AL ROY race.

Wade Miley's numbers are better than Hellickson's were last year (Hellickson pitched for a better team, I might add), and Trumbo's (who finished second) were far better than Harper's are this year.

Miley ought to win this thing by 75 votes. Any less separation is due strictly to the "Bryce Harper" brand name recognition.

EDIT: Miley should finish 75 votes ahead of Harper. Todd Frazier is certainly in the mix as well.

All I can say it watch him play, if he does not win ROY then it will be okay. He will be better then any Rookie that came up in the last few yrs going forward so he will be just fine.

I'm really kind of sick of hearing about Harper... so he hit two HRs in a game? We all know he has the potential for the long ball, but his overall season hasn't been all that great.

Why does age have anything to do with anything? Let's see. Most guys his age are either swinging aluminum bats, or taking buses to parks that seat about 1000 people. He's not only talented, but is baseball IQ is off the charts. Besides being a 5-tool talent, he does the things no one else does anymore -- run the bases aggressively and he can hit homeplate from anywhere in the OF.

Personally, I think Rookie of the Year is a pretty meaningless award. Who is going to be better over their career -- Harper, or Frazier?
