My Quest to flip for a 1989 Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck Psa 10 Rookie:




I really love card collecting. Since I was a kid, Ken Griffey Jr. became a huge role model for me. I started to collect his cards at the age of 12 and have amassed over 1300 different cards of his. Sometimes I trade his cards and sometimes I sell them. Whatever I do, I just enjoy mixing up my collection.

However, there is one card I have never obtained. That is A 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. Psa 10 Gem Mint rookie. Every Griffey collector should have this. I don't. Today, this all changes. I have set before you a challenge that I am going to attempt. Its not an easy challenge, but I feel it will be fun and exciting. I have been wanting to try this for sometime now, and finally got the nerve to do it.




My goal is to "flip" a blaster box of 2011 Bowman Draft Picks and Prospects into a Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 Upper Deck Gem Mint Psa 10 rookie. My goal is to flip enough trades, or to make enough money to buy that card. I stopped by my local card shop after work and bought this bad boy. Still sealed and ready to be ripped. I have set some ground rules for this challenge.


1. I will add $5.00 additional to help start with shipping costs. After that, nothing else can be added.

2. Trading and selling is allowed. If I can trade up, I will. If I can sell the cards, I will. All money and cards will be tracked and recorded in this thread.

3. I will use multiple trading forums, eBay, and local card shows to attempt this. Sorry Blowout! You guys are still my number one forum to trade on!

4. Multiple transactions can happen at the same time.

5. No buying/Selling/trading can be done in this thread. If you interested in a card please PM me. I do not want this thread bombarded with offers. I want to make this a nice read for the other members.

I may or may not be able to complete this challenge, but I'm willing to try. It's gonna be fun and challenging. I will do my best to keep this up to date as well. Once I rip this blaster box, I will post the results below. Then the trading and selling will begin!

Ive always thought of doing this with a low end auto or jersey...see how far i can get by trading it up and selling it then buying a steal on ebay and starting over until I ended with one awesome high end card

I dont mind. I am in this for the fun and the challenge. Besides, I didn't want to disrespect Blowout and sell/trade a blaster box. It just didn't seem right.

Did you get the idea to flip/trade towards a Griffey PSA 10 from the CU message boards? A guy is trying to trade up to a 1952 Mantle on there. Your updates are very similar to his. Nothing wrong w/ doing his idea. I love reading how people are trading up to get a dream card.

I sold an identical one on eBay for 16.99 a few weeks ago, so it was close.
