Nobody wants to tell this guy this is a BAD idea? I know smart guys with direct accounts that couldn't make money on case breaks. With the work and fees involved its a virtual no win unless a big hit is pulled and since we are talking Topps update well...

To the OP, is your only ebay selling account the one you have linked here? Do you know there are category & dollar limits for low FB sellers? You could list 20 items and be restricted for 30 days. I have seen this with sellers with 300+ FB. In addition to that Paypal will probably put you on 21 day hold if you start taking in any real money.

I'm not telling him its a bad idea. It is Topps Update which if done correctly, seems to be very low risk.

Maybe the most valuable post of the thread. Right now, my eBay limits are 100 items and $5,000. If I split sales 70/30 across eBay/BO, I may be pushing it on the items. I have talked to an eBay rep, and he recommended I call back later this month and ask about raising the limits. He also said if I get denied then and find myself approaching the limits come first week of October, to give them another call ... looking at my account, he said I should have no issues then.

PayPal holds are not an issue for me, even 21 days.

If you know what you're doing, this isn't a bad idea. Topps Update is probably the easiest money you can make all year. This is my #1 all-in product, where I take as much as I can afford and put it into Update.
If you can't make money in this, then you can't make money in cards. The outdated method of selling "hits" doesn't apply here. You paid for every card in the case, you need to sell every card in the case.

Didn't see if you mentioned it already, but are you doing Hobby or Jumbo cases? Curious to know how you decided between more cards or more hits.

Doing 6 jumbo cases. Even though this is a low-end product, based on my research jumbo is the way to go.

Good luck! I'm going to be doing 2 cases of Update- I was considering more but I'm still a little scared from Topps 2 (although Update looks better) and I don't have alot of time available around release date. I'm planning on doing 5-6 cases of 2013 Topps 1 for my first case break of that size.

Thanks for the tip ... I just ordered this scale. I was looking at a smaller one, but I realized I may want to be able to weigh things in the 3-5 lb range as well.

Keep me posted if you do a big 2013 Topps 1 break. I also will be doing a 5-6 case break, and I know of another member that will be doing one of that size as well. Would be nice to form a network of "small-scale" breakers (well, smaller than the 60-case big guns) for trading purposes.

A shout-out to KaraandMelliesDaddy for suggesting the QL-700. I used it for the first time last night, and it is AWESOME! Prints a label in like 2 seconds, and fits perfectly onto a #000 mailer. Thanks man!

Side note: I have an extra QL-700, with replaceable label cartridge and one 100' roll ... if anyone is interested, shoot me a PM.

Used my 700 5 times already and man i cant believe I went this long without it - A+ machine deff reccomend it.

I sell alot of stuff to the same folks on ebay and outside of ebay, the address book is perfect for saving their info and printing on the fly.

what type of paper/labels do you have to buy with the QL-700?

DK-2205 (2 3/7" x 100') is what you need.

Don't you need a regular size printer so you can print out the PayPal/eBay labels with the delivery confirmation?

I might be mistaken, but the Brother looks like JUST an address label maker.

The QL-700 (along with a handful of other label printers) does PayPal/eBay shipping labels thru USPS. The labels are 2.4" x 8". Looks sorta like this:

If you already have the printer, set it up so you can print your postage labels on eBay and Paypal with with it. Even if you are only sending a few packages a week it's well worth it.

Yes, I'm excited ... actually taking off 10/4 and 10/5 to make sure I enjoy it and do a good job.
