This should be fun!! :D

VeedonFleece 10-01-2012 01:31 PM

Interesting concept. Wonder where they came up with such a novel idea. Maybe they should call it Beat the Streak or something. Woeful promo.

premium1981 10-01-2012 01:41 PM

Sounds good to me. Adds value to the product. Isn't that what we all want? I'll take it.

texas 10-01-2012 02:02 PM

sounds like they got the idea from

LOL, seriously ... is this any different than Beat the Streak??

natbornkiller 10-01-2012 02:03 PM

I CAN SEE IT NOW 2014 TOPPS FANTASY TEAMS BASED ON CODE Cards

Ajax1723 10-01-2012 02:06 PM

Borrowed concept, but should be fun. Might kill the value on codes though after a while.

Wonder what the odds are that someone actually wins the million. They probably took out an insurance policy so they aren't paying the full million either way.

Even if you assume your player has a 50% chance of getting a hit in a given game, your odds of "beating the streak" (i.e. 57 in a row) are about 1 in 14 quadrillion.

No company pays off big prizes like that, even casinos have insurance on the big multi million payoffs on slots, cant really slam them for that. Now about being original.............

144 quadrillion (1.44x10^17)
144 quadrillion (1.44x10^17)
Oops, you are correct.
144 quadrillion (1.44x10^17)
Nahh, the player will get 3-5 at bats. The odds still suck eggs though.

armyatc22 10-01-2012 04:08 PM

On top of those odds you have to unlock the good players too. If you don't unlock the right people at the right times then the streak will end

1992topps 10-01-2012 04:09 PM

Every player unlocked will be on the DL or in AA

First of all if you hitter averages .300 and has almost 4 abs/ game there is a 75% chance of them getting a hit.

remlaf01 10-01-2012 09:00 PM

It will be incredibly hard to win the million, but it should draw in more '' collectors ''. Sounds good to me.

Bosox34 10-01-2012 09:04 PM

Sounds interesting but I'm just going to buy codes as lots cause buying in blisters and rack packs and gettin worthless base is pointless

Gibberish 10-01-2012 10:03 PM

Oh I am done with Topps and their million dollar give-aways
I would rather run through the 410 at rush hour, blind folded, for 10.00 :) Better odds :)
Nahh, the player will get 3-5 at bats. The odds still suck eggs though.
yeah, I understand that, the number I posted was based on an assumption that calculusdork made.

MMantle 10-01-2012 10:15 PM

Similar to the Crash The Game cards they use to have when players would hit home runs on the date listed on the card.. redeem for a prize. But alas I'll pass on this promotion just like the golden giveaway, they've lost their flavor.

cntryislandboy 10-02-2012 11:05 AM

might be fun, i've never one anything in my life, so maybe this will be my big break out, lol

Swingman 10-02-2012 11:10 AM

Very cool contest, looking forward to this!!
144 quadrillion (1.44x10^17)
Is it really 50% though? In real life for a player to get a streak they have to face certain amount of teams in order. In this contest it seems like you can pick a new player each day, so you can sort of choose which pitchers you wanna face (ones with high ERAs, low SO's, etc), and which hitters you want to play (ones on hot streaks, ones that routinely make a fool of the pitcher, etc).

I don't know if that makes it come out better than 50% though, but seems like the odds are better than an actual player doing it.
