Howdy y'all,
Before anyone starts flaming me and tells me that I am in the wrong forum, I am only asking in here because I know most of you in the baseball forum instead of basketball. ![]() Anyway, a friend of mine who does NOT do eBay or forums pulled a Michael Jordan Precious Gems Red 48/150. They have been going for roughly $2000 on average. This card: #49/150 MICHAEL JORDAN 11/12 FLEER RETRO PRECIOUS METAL GEMS RED PMG RARE ! | eBay He asked me if I could sell it for him. I have no problem doing that but he said to give him a number for compensation on top of what ebay, paypal, and shipping fees cost which would come to roughly $160. For a $2000 card what would be a fair number to ask for in turn for selling it? Thoughts? Thanks guys!

I'd say 2-3% of the final sale price is not too much to ask. He's going to make a lot more with you listing it than he would by listing it himself. Also, don't forget insurance!

well for me, if a good friend asked me to sell something like that I wouldnt ask for a fee....but if he insisted, I would say prob about 10% of what the card sells for seems reasonable.

Umm because he offered.. It's not like I'm gonna ask him a ton anyway, I'm just trying to get ideas because I know a lot of people on here have done it before. Plus he got the box for free so he doesnt care.

COnsignors of high priced items usually take 5% of the gross.
maybe a little less for repeat customers. Take 5% of the gross and any fees and shipping. He would pay you $100 for your seervice in the above example. Hold the money until the card is received and a chargeback time has passed though because you will have to shell back the 2K.

$160 is perfectly reasonable. You're hooking him up, he's sharing the wealth.
What? Single digits? No way. Not real consignors.

You are really putting yourself out there for a high dollar card. You will be on Ebay constantly if you are putting it up BIN/BO (time + effort). If everything goes smooth? Great.. but until you get feedback, you are going to be sweating buckets as soon as you put it in the mail. Also figure in your Ebay/Paypal/S&H fees.
But for a friend? Give him a flat fee, and if he's happy tell him he can always throw you a bone on top. I would be happy with $50. If it was a complete stranger it would be higher.
