I was reading ScooterD's cool thread: Feats we will never see again... and I was going to post this there, but that would kinda highjack his thread.

So, I actually agree that 511 wins will never be caught and that leading in both wins and saves in the same year will not be done again.

I do think the hit's record will be broken - if not by Jeter, then by someone else some day.

I think someone could hit .400 again. I think someone could catch DiMaggio's hit record and Ripken's consecutive games.

However, there is a homerun record that I believe will never be beaten. This record was accomplished by a famous St Louis slugger in the late 90's.

I need the player's name, date he started the record and date he completed it, and I also need the record.

First person* to answer those questions wins a $20 card from me.

My out of left field guess was:

Mark McGwire, most home runs by a right handed batter in a single season with 70. First one hit on 03-31-1998 last two hit on 09-27-1998.
