What's the best way to take a picture of an auto/ball to sell on ebay?

I'm trying to sell a few, but I just can't get them to look good with my digital cam. Anyone list a bunch of them? What do you do?

As a bonus, whoever shares with me will never be reported again by me again, despite what my signature says

Don't use your flash. Use lighting other than your camera.

If you do use the flash, stand a bit farther away.

Thank you..that's along the lines of what I was looking for.

Get a picture close to a window during the day so you get the best lighting.

Remember to point the camera at the thing you want to take a picture of and not at yourself.

Also, do not eat the camera.

Find a dark color towel/sheet something like that for a background.

If you have a small tripod, use it, some small ones can be found for about 5 bucks at Dollar General or some other discount store(think about 12" tall)

If you don't want to do the tripod, get a stack of books to steady the camera.

Place the ball on the towel and prop the towel up so that you have a bottom and a 'wall' behind the ball.

If you don't have lights, take the pictures during the day, and in direct sunlight.

Set your camera to macro and turn the flash off.

Don't zoom in, move the camera closer, unless you have a really good camera. The zoom will blur the picture on cheaper cameras.

Steady the camera on the books or tripod, and don't let it shake at all.

Take your pictures, Voila!

I expect to be 'report' free for at least 15 years for this information and for you to bully anyone that does report me.

When I do list oddball items that cannot be scanned I use a high res camera. I put the item on either a sheet or blanket that is black for a backdrop and I take atleast 5 or 6 pictures from different angles. And then scan the COA.

looks like you have already gotten all the good advice you need.

When taking photos of memorabilia I always try to use as much natural lighting as possible. No better lighting than a few close by windows.

Yes, I definitely have gotten some great advice (from an admittedly stupid/basic question). THe only problem is it's a pretty dreary day here and my apartment doesn't have the best natural light to start with.

I will deal though. Thanks to all...now to just get me some bikini models!
