Why buy something, then ask if it was a good deal?

I see this all the time on a variety of boards I read. Never understand why people would buy something without knowing if it was a good idea or not.

Are people that stupid or is it a way to show off without seem like they are showing off?

Most of the time its for show, then they quickly realize what they thought was a good deal is really not.

For show. Self esteem. Some people just like to start discussions. What you think something is worth and what someone else does does not matter.

If I buy something it is because it is something I want and the selling price is in my buying range.

Those threads are really no different that. "Player X is the best in the league"

100 people and you will have 73 different responses.

I also think people may bid without doing research, find out they overpaid, then never pay the seller. This is the only way I can explain all the non payers on ebay.

there are also a lot of illegals that don't have a shipping address. Who buy and realize if they do pay there is no place for it to be shipped. I've had 5 non paying bidders from Lower California.

wait..just because they're illegal doesn't mean they're homeless. Also how do you know they're from Lower California if they didn't provide a shipping address? And where exactly is Lower California? I live in SoCal, and have never heard of this magical place.

Relax. It's for reassurance a lot of the time. A way to exorcise the buyer's remorse demons. Even if it's to show off...so what? That's half of what internet hobby boards are for.
