Confederate Civil War currency is VERY easy to come by.

The good thing about the ones shown is that they are not remainder notes.

Now that Ambrotype photo is very nice, those are one of a kind.

Agreed..but put them in card for then you have sports collectors battling military collectors.

I will never understand the fascination behind the Civil War.

While one side fought valiantly to preserve this country, the other were filthy traitors fighting for horrible reasons.

And yet it's the "other" side that gets celebrated most often.

Redemptions have really gone down in price (the last two sold for $246 and $200). Unfortunately they don't show up often, I really should have bid on that last one.

I would have considered adding these to the shelves except I am fairly sure all of the Civil War collectors who come and buy notes,buttons,buckles,sabers...would hang me,then burn the store to the ground

And yes, Confederate currency IS plentiful...but not cheap



We pick these up every few weeks.
The tough one and pricey one is the 5.00 note. Oddly enough a 100.00 note is only worth 200-225 whereas the 5.00 note brings up to 80.00

Saw one of these at a card show tonight. It was a piece of wallet from a confederate soldier I believe. Plain, but a cool looking relic card overall. The flag pieces and money look real nice.

I have 5, but I posted way back when Goodwin came out that UD told me on the phone that they'll ship them 'sometime in early 2013', I didn't expect to see anything about them for quite awhile.

I hoping for a flag star mostly, based on the odds from UD, the flag stars were one of the easier to get redemptions along with uniform buttons.

Yep. Try living in Alabama and having to deal with the idiocy. It's not the Civil War, it's "The War of Northern Aggression", or "The War Between the States". For the people who say it wasn't about slavery, but about state's rights I say, "Yeah the state's RIGHT to own PEOPLE."

Another popular catch phrase is "It's not racism, it's heritage." Why exactly would you want to look proudly back when your ancestors viewed people as property and fought for the right to continue to keep them as such? Personally if I ever found out a relative of mine was involved in slavery or defending slavery (luckily most of my family either came from Ireland or were Native Americans) I would feel ashamed and hope to never let anyone know about it.

Well not to muddy the water too much, Slavery was the distraction platform.
Doesn't matter who fought who,the issue for me is that everyone always says it was slavery. If you google it, even the Wikipedia site says the exact same thing.

Confederate buttons that are in good shape are in demand here and I think most of the collectors may ho and hum,but would still jump at the bit...but i think selling boxes would be a poop storm for me

The North really wasn't that honorable as you'd tend to believe, they may have been mostly anti-slave, but more appropriately white Northerners did not wish slavery to expand into new areas of the nation, which they believed should be preserved for white nonslaveholding settlers.They were definitelyanti-African, the overwhelming attitude in the North was "We don't want a huge influx of freed Africans in our white cities and territories."
