Default Twitter, Topps & Matt Harvey

Whenever I see a tweet from Matt Harvey I politely ask him about doing a signing for Topps (open Platinum redemptions). I see the following tweet from him tonight:

"Matt Harvey‏@MattHarvey33

Dinner at dream hotel downtown. Only problem is I'm all alone! "

I reply with this:

"@MattHarvey33 maybe sign some cards for @toppscards after dinner."

Shockingly he replies:

"Matt Harvey‏@MattHarvey33

@Bruvydsb10 I do not have any cards! I apologize but I really have no clue what you are referring to."

DSB10‏@Bruvydsb10

@MattHarvey33 @toppscards has unsigned redemptions from last year. Thx for reply!

Then this tweet from Topps:

Topps Company‏@toppscards

"@MattHarvey33 we have a number of outstanding cards for you to sign, we will reach out to agency in effort to set up session @Bruvydsb10"

Maybe these thing will actualy get signed, gotta love Twitter.

Let's hope! I have a green bowman platinum redemption in and have been bugging them about it everytime I call.

I love the honesty from Harvey, good guy! Clearly some great communication between Topps and the players they are waiting to get autos from.... yikes

It is not the first time an athlete was surprised that Topps had been saying they had not signed.

Who knows the name? I think it may have been a football player?

Anyway, good job bruvy!

I'm sure 95% of the time athletes don't even know they have outstanding signatures. Either their managers/agents or Topps themselves aren't getting them to them.

its possible that these players only sign in the offseason so maybe Moustakas will sign some of his stuff. Furthest Ive gotten on Twitter was @Baueroutage when I tweeted him and told him to quit talking crap on obama and catch the first flight to Japan to learn how to pitch... his response "Ive already been there, years ahead"

Shows what BS it is that Topps go-to excuse for late redemtpions is that they're waiting on the player to sign. Here's a case where redemption cards were created and inserted for cards that, long after product release, the player has no idea even exist. WAY TO GO TOPPS!!

You cant put all the blame on Topps. The only the information we have is that the player doesnt know what Topps is talking about and that Topps is waiting on the player to sign. Topps does not negotiate directly with the players, so my guess is that this is a middleman problem.

And I am not saying that it's definitely not Topps fault, it very well could be. There is just not enough info.

I agree...while I don't feel Topps is free of blame from all signings, I do believe their comment at the National that there are certain agents that are harder to deal with and that they feel will be more difficult in getting cards signed.

In this instance, based on how Topps phrased their response to Harvey, you can tell that they haven't even initiated the process yet. I understand that it can sometimes be a middleman issue, but it clearly isn't here.

LOL! Maybe you can ask Topps for me about the Leonys Martin redemptions. I would ask them but they have me blocked on twitter and I don't know why.

After Harvey's terrific performance last night it dawned on me that I have not seen a tweet from him in quite some time. Turns out the bastard blocked me for my multiple requests for him to do a signing for Topps. Thanks Matt!

I tweeted to Tyrell Jenkins and he said he was signing them and that was about 2 months ago. Gotta love Topps!

Just got off with Topps and they just signed a new contract with Harvey (more $) and the cards are now in his possession awaiting his sig. Nice to hear this may actually happen. Can't wait for my Red /10!

I bet you felt really macho after that tweet. I never understood people who use twitter to insult players, or get mad at them for using THEIR handles to voice THEIR opinions. The first amendment exists for a reason.
