Default Sports Card Shows Ohio

We are looking for some helpful ideas to gain more people through the door and also more dealers at our Card Shows. Right now we get about 75+ people through the door and our table prices are $20 per 8 foot table. We run an ad in The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Beckett free calendar, also the paid Beckett large ads, and Craigslist.

If you are in the area (or outside) what would attract you to our shows? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

We are thinking of doing some things like:

1. Door Prizes
2. Silent Auctions
3. Raffle prizes
4. Group breaks

We also do a Tuesday night show every other week that we can incorporate any ideas. Thanks for your help.

Get a signer. Even a low end local player will help.

I think these are some good ideas.

Where are you in Ohio?

Also, and this is just me, make sure you arent in competition with bigger/more established shows in your area.

We do a monthly show in Eastlake, Ohio that can fit more than 70 eight foot tables. We charge only $20 per table. We also do a small Tuesday night show in Twinsburg with 10 tables.

We were thinking of maybe doing a raffle for say a JSA Mickey Mantle signed picture. Charging $5 per raffle ticket or something like that?

I just went to a small show yesterday, and people were all over the silent auction stuff, even the stuff that wasn't sports related (gift card and celebrity stuff).

Group breaks are an interesting idea. People could get there cards and trade them immediately.

Autograph signings can attract a lot of people.

If you are planning on doing more shows in the future then door prizes can help get information about the people that attend so you can go directly for them in the future. Have them fill out a little sheet to enter that has their name, phone number, home address, and e-mail address and send them reminders for future shows, and you could send out evaluations to possibly find out what they liked or didn't like.

Don't forget that people love food.

Good luck!

Just off the top of my head, afew Ohio natives that are active in the MLB you could have sign are Derek Holland and Chad Billingsley...also, Eric Fryer has done some time in the bigs as well.

I'm in Ohio and I go to a lot of shows. Group breaks would be awesome, what a great idea! Could you guys have shows at the Great Northern mall and Strongsville mall?

Unfortunately the malls want way too much money for promoters to put card shows at any more. Strongsville wants $5000 for a weekend show. Hope you can make it out to the Eastlake show tomorrow.

$5,000 for a show...? No wonder our malls stopped having shows in the Youngstown area. I hope to make the next show you guys are putting on in December.
