I know I already have one of these threads, but it got off topic and cluttered. I thought I'd make a more up to date one. Which I'll try to keep updated with new roster moves and also were people can talk about their opinions or thoughts.

They need to focus this season on aquiring a somewhat decent 1st basemen whether by trading or by signing. Probably a guy like BryanLahair

Any info on if Buchholz is staying for 2013? I figured I would start a PC of him since I ended up with several high end cards pretty cheap lately LOL go Sox!

I think and hope he is staying for 2013 and beyond! I am expecting a good year from him next year!

Brentz is doing well in the Arizona Fall League.....I can see him taking one of the corners in the OF.

Fixed that for you, no way he starts 2013 in the majors.

I agree with you on that. I think he will get a shot in 2013 though

In all honesty, this should be the "bridge" year that Theo should've had a couple of seasons ago instead of going for it and overspending. I believe a trade with the Angels for Kendrys Morales (they basically have 3 1B/DH types in Morales, Trumbo, and Pujols) to play first base. The only free agent I would do is possibly Mike Napoli, depending on how much $ he wants. Shortstop is a little tricky. Ciriaco is more of a super utility type. Maybe sign Stephen Drew for one year until Xander Bogaerts is ready? I see Ellsbury & Kalish in two outfield spots. Unless the Red Sox plan on trading for a stud pitcher, I say keep Ellsbury, give him a qualifying offer and let Jackie Bradley Jr. take over CF in 2014. Lester, Buchholz, & Lackey will be in the rotation for sure. Doubrount, not too sure about him. Could see a Carlos Villanueva or a Brandon McCarthy in the 5th spot. Someone that has good stuff but can be had on the cheap side. The starters have got to return to form next year or this team will be right back where it was this past season. The offense won't be a juggernaut, but then again, neither was the A's or Orioles and look where they wound up.

Do I see he sees the majors in 2013? Absolutely
Will he make any kinda major contribution/play a lot unless there is a 2012 type rash of injuries? Absolutely not.

I could see him, Barnes, Xander, Bradley all up in September.

In all honesty, if Bryce Brentz gets 300+ AB in the majors this year, then something went terribly wrong for the Red Sox...again

Yes! For how many years? It didn't say

Also at what size ballpark did he homer at? I doubt it, but if it was at Fenway for 8 years old that's pretty insane

I know this isn't a Gold Glove but Pedroia won the " Wilson Defensive Player of the Year Award" for 2nd baseman, I feel he was robbed a GG this year. At least he won one defensive award

Most little league parks around here have fences that are 200ft. Either way, I have yet to see an 8-10 year old put one over the fence locally (and very few 12 yr olds). Gotta have a decent pitch to hit and they just dont see too many of those around here.

My boy did hit a gapper to the fence between the outfielders in a game and rounded third as the outfielder was throwing the ball in (no errors on the play or the throws, they even read it right, just couldnt cover the ground fast enough...any misread or error and I wouldnt consider it a HR)...actually, he did this twice but the second time the third base coach held him up for some reason (and he would have scored easily and knew it...he was so mad). Speed helps in cases like this

I'm pretty sure you guys will be throwing Ruby De La Rosa in the staff. If not right out of spring then id say within a month or two of the season.

I dunno whats crazier, Youkilis being back here or the Red Sox ever letting Bard start again.

Theres a better chance you and I pitch for them this year than those 2 things happening

Agreed, I think they should just keep Bard in the Bullpen and try to get him back into form

Like I said, just kinda what I'm feeling right now. I'm 100% in favor of bard closing, but with Bailey there currently I don't see him in the pen.

I think youk could be back with the six only because he is the best 1b out there right now.

Bard was arguably the biggest disaster for the 2012 Red Sox, and that says a lot. No one even knows if he can relieve anymore since he was a mess in Pawtucket and when he came back up.

He is never starting again, and he not even be the same reliever he once was.

Also, the Youkilis ship has sailed. He had a BAD year last year, which is a sign of things to come.

Think there is anything to the Ellsbury for Andrus rumors that are flying.. Sox came out and said they aren't trading Ells, which usually means that will trade him haha

I like the idea of trading Ellsbury, but I personally don't like the deal of Ellsbury for Andrus.

I would drive Ellsbury to Texas for Andrus, that would be a wet dream.

Or even for Holland
