Five Star Baseball is live!

Looks like a few cards have hit ebay already. Will probably be several more leak out today before they officially go live tomorrow.

Edges and corners do not look that great on those. Hopefully it will not be an ongoing issue with all of them.

VWBUS1978 11-13-2012 10:54 AM

sweet, hoping to see some disgusting Lincecum pieces come up in the next few days.

Haze28 11-13-2012 10:54 AM

They look great, I like that Clark.

Man, the edges are horrible.

Tugarpj 11-13-2012 10:57 AM

Look at the crappy condition of those cards though!

Pine Tar 11-13-2012 10:58 AM

That Freeman is one ugly looking card and not worth the price they have it listed at.

UNACCEPTABLE for a $100/card product!!!

Absolutely unacceptable!

Yet people keep buying it...

I know from my experience picking up singles of football the first year, I'd never touch this stuff again. Shouldn't be any mystery about it by now.

I've said over and over that they need to find a way to product edges and corners on these high-end on-card auto products. Some kind of foam frame or something. They just get beat to hell on shipment.

VWBUS1978 11-13-2012 11:01 AM

wow, i know they print to order, but vida blue /208??? that's like 1 in every other case.

i almost went "all-in" on this product too, but decided against at the last minute i could preorder. i don't see the case prices holding up @ 1450

jubei777 11-13-2012 11:02 AM

unless 2/3 boxes per case break even, this is going to start dropping soon. some of the cards look nice but definitely not at that price point. gl to everyone cracking today-tomorrow.

speedmasterp 11-13-2012 11:04 AM

So will they hold strong at $1395 on blowout? I'm staying away since I'm too scared to gamble on this one, but i love following the prices of these types of products.

it may be a $350 box by x-mas.

SportCardBuffet 11-13-2012 11:05 AM

What's the point in making these cards so thick? Just because a product is "high end" doesn't mean it needs to be the thickest stock possible.

Forget TTT ... this is the gamble of the mother-effing century

premium1981 11-13-2012 11:07 AM

I am still going to open my cases but I am not as exicted now after seeing those.

You aren't kidding. It can be a $1,000 loss or $1,000 profit per case gamble. That is a massive swing when the case price is $1300-$1400.

Thanks! I normally stay WAY away from high end products because they are normally losers. But I wanted to treat myself to a new product after having a really good year with cards. Will probably take a hit, but I will have fun doing it!

smfiv 11-13-2012 11:10 AM

Hopefully not all of the cards look like these or else I won't even pick up any singles...

Yep ... you actually could hit something really huge, we honestly have no idea what the ROI of this product will be yet, but damaged cards right out of the pack in a product like this just blows my mind.

Ooosh 11-13-2012 11:11 AM

Awful looking, that sucks!

edhou1 11-13-2012 11:12 AM

let's not overreact based on a small sample size of a few cards... seller has obviously not listed any booklet or patch cards yet...

plan for the worst, hope for the best!

gamboooler 11-13-2012 11:17 AM

I am nervous about all those silver/gold autos replacing the book in a majority of boxes. Probably would've done auctions on the first Five Star cards to hit eBay. Seems kind of silly to set a semi-arbitrary ceiling on your return. But maybe that guy is just really good at predicting the market for these types of cards.
