Not gonna happen. In reality it's not a terrible trade for Miami, except giving away Reyes hurts - but not so badly when you realize they'd have to pay a SS on the wrong side of 30 22 million a year.

Not to mention you shed a bad Buehrle contract, and get trade value out of JJ before his arm falls off.

The Blue Jays fans think they're winning the World Series next year...they're not hating on this trade.

He played 160 last season and less than 125 only once since 2004.

What does that even mean? He is injury-prone, yes, but he is a very solid pitcher when healthy.

Buehrle was relevant last season when he won 13 games with a 3.74 ERA and 3.13 K/BB

The reality of the situation will not settle in until Giancarlo Stanton leaves the team to go make it as a lumberjack in the Everglades.

I personally like the Blue Jays trade. However, it puts a dent in the AL East and projects the Red Sox to be a bottom of the barrel team again this year. With the O's have a strong team, the Yankees have a strong team, the Blue Jays are even stronger now. The Red Sox will have to pull some big move off of their own to get stronger or us Sox fans are in for a big disappointment.

Umm, no? Not just next year bro, we're winning it 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017 (Bud Selig will refuse to give the Jays the WS in 2016 after realizing nobody stands a chance), 2018, and 2047.

The Jays will also have 9 straight 160+ wins/season.

True story.

Unfortunetly, he is hurt just as much as he is healthy.

Over his career (excluding rookie year) he averages 20 starts per year.

I believe what the OP was getting at was what the owner is doing. I saw a little something about it on ESPN or some where. I guess the owner got the stadium payed for with public funding and got the whole city all rallied up on the team and now he is trading off all the good players and alot of money and is planning on selling the team and walking away with a ton of cash, basically all at the city of Miami's sake.

It's a shame the Maple Leafs won't make the playoffs in that span either

It's not great work, but in time, it'll pay for another name change. I heard he might wrastle gators on the side.

Don't see what needs to be vetoed here. The jays went after the here and now and recieved it in a stud "injury-prone" flamethrower, a superstar SS, and (of course biased) a solid consistant veteran who will give you .500 or above on his record an put in 200 IP.

And the marlins let up a $h1t ton of money and reloaded with GOOD young talent

Both sides got what they wanted. Confused as to what everyone is so up in arms about. The names people know went to the jays and the marlins made the correct business decision.

Those who want it vetoed I can only assume want it stopped to save baseball in Miami. Only 4 million is going to change hands in cash not enough for the commish to step in.

Considering a team that signs a free agent in almost all cases is the team that is willing to overpaid for someone... It's not a bad dump (do over) out of context. Buehrle is solid but they made the most of the first year of a 4 year deal that was backloaded with 3 pricey years remaining. Reyes had a great season but is coming up on the wrong side of 30 with 96 million left. Johnson obviously has potential but health question marks and 1 year left. The problem is when it's put into context. The Marlins franchise doing another salary dump. The same team that got a tax payer funded stadium. And the fact that the money that left town will not be reinvested this year.
