Amazing collection.

I understand the people thinking its crazy to bust this product but don't understand why these cards have sold so low (I was able to get a nice Middlebrooks RC auto for 35 dlvd, an you killed that with multiple HoF autos). They are nice big on card autos, im suprised the demand isn't a least a little higher. Wish I had $400 to put into my pc I would of been all over 5* items myself.

Well done.

No...it is not mine. Mine is #2/10. The current one on ebay has a better scan until I get mine in.

Great job so far. I'm doing a similar project for a case worth of cards. However it wont be a true case breakdown. I'm replacing the Rookies & Relics with extra Retired or Veteran players. Also trying for all #/10 base cards. Was trying to get the 'case' for the price of a box, but a couple big cards are probably going to push me over that goal. Will post my results once finished.

I don't know why, but I can't stop adding Five Star singles to my collection!! I like the design, player selection and on-card autos. All that and they are incredibly cheap IMHO! I am now adding players that I do not have any autos of that I would like to have.

Here are my latest pickups:

Adrian Gonzalez Auto /150 - $9.50

Andre Ethier Relic Auto /55 - $15.10

Mike Schmidt Relic Auto /97 - $35.60

Good stuff man, keep it up. I was talking with GoBeavs a couple days ago (he's been doing something similar), and I think I'm going to try to build an all-Braves "case" from eBay singles. Already picked up a Chipper Jones auto /150 for $38 shipped (turns out that is a really good price for those), and a Terry Pendleton silver auto /99 for $12 shipped. Big ones will be the Aaron auto, and whatever booklet I decide to go after (don't really want a Smoltz/Eckersley dual booklet if I'm trying to keep with the Braves theme).

Anyway, please continue to keep us updated!

You're buying on Ebay mainly? I really like the checklist you've put together, both current and retired players. This might be the strongest aspect of the Five Star set. The on-card autos certainly don't hurt. Have you crunched the numbers for total bucks spent? I'm curious to see how many boxes you could have purchased.

Keep it going, my best buddy! But please leave the Griffey redemptions to me. The wait/possibility of a "replacement" freak me out, but I want a Griffey for Christmas.

I just tallied up my totals and here they are...

27 cards purchased (15 are HOFer autos )

$758.02 total spent

so that comes out to $28/card.

Better value than buying boxes/cases and I get the cards I want.

And yes, I buy mainly on ebay, but I have made a couple of deals off ebay.

That would have cost you $1,890 retail, and that's estimating that sealed boxes would run you $350, which might be low(I know the price has dropped).

I would have not only spent about $1,900, but I would have undoubtedly ended up with a bunch of scrub cards that would have been useless to me.

This reminds me that I wanted to check out some box breaks on youtube.

Who were the duds they included?

The whole checklist is pretty strong actually, but on a cost per card basis it is simply difficult to justify the box price when, as a collector, I have very specific wants. And almost none of those cards are $70 cards.

Oh, ok. Well, much like the other high-end products, you're paying the $100 premium for the CHANCE to pull a bat knob/cut auto/bat plate or letter patch. I'm just not a gamblin' man.
