marlins should have made a stadium where its at least possible for him to hit the ball out of the park, not the next petco park.

Mason Williams, Tyler Austin, Gary Sanchez, Hensley and Banuelos. Do it.

See, reason I can't see him being moved is because of the reason behind every move the Marlins make - money. Their goal is not to receive talent back; it's to receive money back to operate how they see fit. Stanton is under contract and cheap. He can bring a similar package a year down the line while playing for the Marlins during that year and making them money while also making very, very little versus the value he provides. I can't see him going anywhere right now, just wouldn't make sense, and I'd that point it'd actually be a move Selig might have an argument for blocking.

And even if a "talent" trade were to happen your farm would basically need a top #1-15 guy, with more pieces. For example, I saw a Mets writer say he wouldn't trade Flores/Wheeler for Stanton. He's nuts. I would drive to Miami to pick him up myself for that.

I guarantee 4087% the Mets would do that. I'd bet my life on it.

I am a Ranger's fan and I would give up Profar, Olt and another of our top prospects to get him here. He would hit 50 HR's with half his games being in Arlington.

As a jays fan I would give up d'arnaud, Gose, Sanchez, Syndergaard, Osuna and anyone else in the minors that the marlins would want.

That man would hit 50 a year playing half his games in the rogers centre!

And this is why Ruben Amaro trading Jonathan Singleton, Zack Cosart and Domingo Santana for Hunter Pence was just an awful trade. Start with that package for Stanton, along with Worley or one of the catching prospects and I think Stanton would be on the Phillies. We have a pretty terrible GM.

Seeing as how Loria only understands money I propose that the New York Yankees buy Stanton from Miami. There was a guy the Yankees bought in 1920 who had a heck of a career and chances are history might repeat itself.

Or the Yankees could convince the Metropolitan to give Loria some of their paintings in exchange for Stanton.

Still no.

Singleton and all them are not elite, non of them are elite. We are talking about top 10-25 prospects in baseball just to start the package.

I love you Phillies fans, but theres probably a half dozen teams with the ammo to make a play for him in all of baseball

Clear prospects and cap room for Stanton. Then sign Josh hamilton

I agree with this. If anyone, texas has to be in the position to make this deal. Although I don't know if the marlins would want profar since they just acquired yunel escobar and his racist tendencies.

When he was on Toronto I always assumed he was going to be moved to oakland. Maybe that's where the marlins are shopping him.

Yeah if you get a Profar or a Boagerts (and think hes a SS) you clear room for them, regardless of who is there.

As a Philly fan it would be nice to land Stanton but the Phillies need to keep the future in mind unloading what prospects we do have would only hurt the Phillies in the long run .

I think the Braves could trade Hanson and Teheran for Stanton, that sounds like a fair deal

As I said in the original post, the article was written partially tongue-in-cheek ... basically, the Marlins have traded away everyone else, so why not trade Stanton too? But the point Passan is trying to make is that, even though Stanton will make only $500,000 this year (a ridiculous deal for the Marlins), because of that they would be able to get an even greater long-term return by trading him this year (because someone will "overpay" for him this year, if that's even possible).

Some of the deals proposed in this thread make it sound like the Indians could trade Tony Wolters and Dillon Howard for Stanton. That's gotta be fair, right?

It's laughable for Wil Myers, but fair for Stanton?

I love these boards!

The Twins could trade Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, and Kyle Gibson for Giancarlo. But we already have a cluttered outfield. So then we'd have to trade Denard Span to St. Louis or Atlanta...

Maybe we could throw in the incredible Paul Janish to sweeten the deal
