Default Marlins Should Trade Stanton

Giancarlo Stanton should be on trading block – now – if Marlins are serious about rebuilding - Yahoo! Sports

Even though I know it's partially tongue-in-cheek ... it's an interesting perspective.

I would move him. He has some of the best Powere ive seen, but I dont think he will ever be a 280/40 guy. Plus, some of the things he has said since the Reyes trade makes me not like the guy and dont believe he will play 100% next year. I can see a small injury being a long DL stint becuase why play for a franchise that is throwing away a year.

he was 3 hr short and 10 BA points over that mark last year...in 123 games. as a 22 year old.
extrapolate his career numbers over 162 game season, and it might look like this...
270 avg
86 runs
40 hr
100 rbi

even last year alone over a full season would have looked like 285/99/48/113.
give me that from someone who is going to get stronger and possibly better for the next five years running.

I'll take him on my team anyday.

If I was Stanton I would request a trade and sit out if they don't trade me. Marlins are trash. What a slap in the face to the fans and the city. Bud Selig should have stepped in and not let that trade go through after the city helped pay for a new stadium.

Not gonna be enough, Stanton is going to require ELITE ELITE prospect like Jurickson Profar and 3 others, or Xander Boagerts and 3 other type prospects

Stanton just turned 23, his package will be insane. Tommy Joseph or anything the Phillies have, wont do it.

This all day long. I am thinking Tommy Joseph for Stanton is a good deal in the eyes of the Marlins owner.

Name one player in those deals that has the upside of Stanton.

Marlins got more than 3 players for JJ / Reyes / Buehrle / Buck / Emilo. To say the only got three (because of the MLB experience) is just plain asinine.

Cool story. Phillies have zero shot at getting Stanton. Zero.

Marlins also saved money in the Jays deal, as stupid as it was, it made business sense and they got young prospects in return.

Stanton makes literally nothing.

Tommy Joseph and Vance Worely are a joke of an offer, that might get you Logan Morrison, maybe.

+1

I heard some yahoo in Boston call into talk radio inquiring about the same thing... he was just about laughed off the air.

Stanton is under club control for four more years and will make peanuts in that timeframe while having sky-high trade value. The Marlins will need someone to trade the farm to unload Stanton

A Red Sox offer would need to be : Xander, Bradley, Barnes JUST TO START! Maybe even put a Doubront in, or Owens, I mean thats 3 top 100 prospects for Stanton just to get the Marlins to pick up the phone.

As much as I'd love to see Stanton in Fenway, best bet might be to wait until 2017. I see Xander being a star at Fenway, should be top 10 in next years BA top 100

It's really a shame what they've done. Stanton is prime talent at such a young age and will only get better. His talents are just being wasted in Miami.

For the Mets to get him, it would take Harvey + Wheeler + more. Any team would need to start with their two top prospects and then expect to give up more.

It's not just Stanton's talents that a team would be acquiring. He's still so so young, is under team control until 2017, and is only making 400K.

Exactly. He will hit 95% SOLO home runs and have some crazy stat like 50Hr, 65rbi. 50 runs scored. They have NO ONE to surround him in that lineup.

Marlins would be crazy to trade Stanton now. Rebuilding takes no where near as long as it did years ago. They still have 4 more years of him left. The only way I would trade him as someone else mentioned is if I knew 100% for sure he wasn't going to give full effort. If the team isn't going in the right direction after the 2014 season fine THEN trade him and they will still get a nice package in return for him with still 2 years under club control.
