Default The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Prime Cuts Baseball

The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Prime Cuts Baseball (85 Images)November 28, 2012 at 5:26 PM
Imagine my surprise on Monday morning when Panini America Product Development Director Ben Ecklar shared with me 35 revealing images from the 2012 Prime Cuts Baseball quality-control process he’d just completed. Somewhere between Black Friday madness and the launches of 2012-13 Totally Certified Basketball and 2012-13 Prizm Basketball, I had completely lost track of where Prime Cuts was on the production schedule.
And where it was on this particular day was shipping to distributors and dealers in advance of Friday’s release date. So I grabbed those 35 images from Ecklar’s iPhone and, over the course of the last few days, I’ve managed to add a more to the following QC gallery.

Simply, the 85 images that follow detail autographs and game-worn memorabilia cards from the greatest players in baseball history as well as some small doses of the game’s future. Many of the images you’re about to see — especially some of the jaw-dropping booklets and bat barrel cards — were taken by Ecklar during the pre-packout process for Prime Cuts.
We’ll have much more to share on 2012 Prime Cuts Baseball right here on The Knight’s Lance in the coming days. Until then, though, we encourage you to sit back and enjoy an unadulterated stroll through hardball greatness . . .

Well I'll be the first (maybe only) member on here to say that those are collectively, hands-down some of the nicest cards I've ever seen. Won't be long before Panini gets the MLB liscense, and I for one welcome the competition.

National Treasures + Triple Threads + (Tier One * Museum Collection)

But definitely the best baseball effort I've seen from them in recent years

Something we can agree on for once. I was interested in this until I saw that little caveat. Plus with only two cards in a pack, how easy would this be for people to weigh boxes to find the booklets?

Those are VERY nice looking.

Now, here in the real world I want to wish you all enjoyment in your no name "rated rookies" that you will pull and sell on ebay for $2.80-$4.10 a piece.
Your second card, of course, will be a Todd Helton White Jersey card or Mike Schmidt wood sliver.

I'm staying farrr farrrrrrrrrrr away.

I do wish you all happy pulls for those of you who haven't learned your lesson yet

I thought they were eliminating the prospects for this product. I would be seriously ticked if I pulled a Matt Dominguez "Rated Rookie" and a Don Mattingly Jersey as my two cards. Serious gamble. I'll be staying far far away too. $75 - 100 might be worth a gamble but not $150.

Very nice cards. Learned with Five Star though. Preorder on this will be for suckers. The price will drop immediately upon release. Will prolly pick up a few then.

I have a case coming. But it all comes down will it be filled with rated rookie autos. They say that got rid of prospects. But I don't trust them. We will c Friday. Cost is 114 dollars so it is worth a shot

It won't drop immediately upon release, because of the inflated MAPP price floor. Once MAPP runs out, then the dropping will occur.

So you'll just have to be a little more patient.

One of the best hits in the product...

The value of most of the hits coming out of this look brutal.

Looks nice, but value per box is once again pretty terrible.

Terrific looking product. Panini is really putting their best foot forward with their unlicensed baseball products as of late.

However,

$150 for two unlicensed cards is pretty ridiculous. For that price I'd rather save up $50-60 and pick up a "Best Of" product upon release.

Blah. There will be some crazy books

But on a whole looks pretty status quo for panini

Ughhh these are just such boring cards for a high end release.

The big hits (like the ones they teased) will be nice, but the rest is going to be just like last year. It's sad because the old Prime Cuts (Playoff) was one of my favorite baseball products they put out.

If that was my box I would shoot myself.

Blech! Buy singles. That Avila card would be less than 10 bucks. For that price it should at least be a patch.

They need to concentrate on photos with players hats off or turned to the side. That blank cap stuff looks like crap.
