i love going to work at my current job. there is responsibility, a liveable wage, health insurance, vacation time and did i mention I actually LOVE going to work.

The Promotion -
more responsibility, longer hours and about a 20% raise. more stress, larger ulsers (which have been reduced and disappeared because of this current job) a drinking problem might come with this new job. I really don't know.

SOOOOO The question is, Is giving up current happiness worth not knowing and a 20% raise?

Also if there are any lawyers in the house can you tell me what an employer can and cannot do in retaliation for turning down a promotion.

thanks for the advice
No imo.

I asked myself a similar question a few years ago. I was trying to decide whether or not to write my Captains exam. 15% more pay but 4 times the responsibility. For me it was not worth it.

What industry?

In this economy, if you have the opportunity to advance within your career field you should do it.
