Default Michael Young to Phillies could happen today

Young deal ready to go down Postcards From Elysian Fields

Quote:

Michael Young’s time with the Rangers appears to be over. Industry sources are indicating that the trade could go down today with Young accepting a move to the Phillies. Young is the Rangers all-time leader in multiple categories but he is headed for Philadelphia

A sign the dominoes fall after this?

I predict (more like I can dream) the Rangers

Sign Greinke + Hamilton and trade for Upton

Greinke @ 6 yrs $125 mil

Hamilton 4 with 5th yr option @ around 90 mil

Upton multi-team trade involving some of these players Mike Olt, Engle Beltre, Derek Holland, Martin Perez, Andrus

Hamilton's deal would be at about 4 years 100mil, and Greinke will be about 6 years 150-160mil

This isn't good news for the Mets, as Texas will be playing much harder for Grienke.

It's hard to picture Young in anything but a Rangers uniform.

I can understand why Texas fans would be sorry to see him leave and wish him well and all that but they should be happy they don't have to carry him next year too. He adds nothing at this stage. Lord knows what Philly are thinking!

Young has been able to play 150+ games yearly for most of his career and that's playing in the heat of Texas, even at the age of 36.

I think you get him in a hitter friendly park like Citizens and his power numbers may increase, he has always hit 35+ doubles yearly and should increase that production along with RBI.

I would imagine Philly is looking at this short term obviously, and really not sure where he is going to get playing time based on the current 1st base situation in Philly looks like they are banking on Howard being on the DL as typical, and of course no DH in effect so that is not an option.

I'm a life long Rangers fan and love what Young has done for us, but his fielding is awful. He's only useful as a DH these days. The Phillies will regret this deal when they see his fielding. I can't believe any Nafional league team would take him on.

Phillies actually gave up talent too, Lindbloom and Bonilla.

Young is a corpse on the field, so good move for Texas here.

Starting to be a questionable offseason for Philly. They got some well-known starters (on the field), but gave up a lot more than I believe they should have.
