The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Golden Age Baseball (106 Sweet Pics)
The Panini America Quality Control Gallery: 2012 Golden Age Baseball (106 Sweet Pics)December 11, 2012 at 2:09 PM [IMG][/IMG]
What, exactly, is 2012 Golden Age Baseball? Thatís clearly a rhetorical question, but a good one. 2012 Golden Age Baseball is . . . Marcia Brady and Man oí War and Meadowlark Lemon and minis and massive, movie-poster box-toppers including some embedded with memorabilia. Itís Pop-Ups and pop culture and pennants, Americaís pastime and its presidents.
Itís what happens when the Titanic meets the Three Stooges and Ty Cobb. Itís ďI Dream of JeannieĒ and ďGilliganís IslandĒ and ďBewitchedĒ mixed with some BuyBacks and a little Bob Woodward and Watergate.Itís baseballís first DH and the sportís all-time hit king. Itís Vida Blue and Red Grange and rare, white-bordered variations.

Indeed, Panini Americaís new and eclectic 2012 Golden Age Baseball is all of these things and more. But perhaps most importantly, itís coming soon, delivering the greatest baseball players of all time, sure, but also the greatest boxers and football players and race horses along with some of the most historic headlines ever written.
Itís a brilliant throwback release with a throwback price ($3 per pack) that promises one autograph and one memorabilia card per box, not to mention a stunning array of the most captivating Hollywood beauties in history. Yesterday at the Panini America production facility, Brand Managers Mike Payne and Tim Trout began the quality control process for Golden Age in advance of the product going live next Wednesday.
I was lucky enough to be there ó gleefully snapping as many pictures as I could for the following gallery that promises a truly unique collecting experience. Hereís hoping you enjoy looking at this product as much as I did. Be sure to stay tuned to The Knightís Lance in the coming days for additional updates on 2012 Golden Age Baseball.

Wow, what a crap product....count me out.

GOWIFB 12-11-2012 02:34 PM

Some of the autos actually look pretty decent, like some of the action shots that the players signed. Still not a fan of the head shots or the black and white uniforms so again I will be staying away from this product. Panini needs to stop being lazy and go back to when Donruss had done 08 Threads and similar products. Obtain pics of athletes that dont show the logos on the uniform or airbrush them out instead of this black/white jersey and tshirt stuff

Tugarpj 12-11-2012 02:42 PM

Wow! What an ugly mess of crap.

patchgenie 12-11-2012 02:46 PM

it looks like they combined some leftovers from americana with a batch of HOF autos. it kind of reminds me a topps american from 2011. all we need are some carrot top autos now.

Mattsurewood 12-11-2012 02:59 PM

"Following up Leaf's 'Best of Basketball' "Professor" autos, we have the REAL Professor who couldn't construct a boat to get off an island, Russell Johnson"...

My favorite part of the page:

A nice variation between athletes and Hollywood stars. The Honus Wagner card looks amazing. Is it an original copy?

Tracy Hackler December 11, 2012 1:20 pm
Itís a mini parallel.

"Hey Wong, we're not putting T206 Wagners in the product, get real"

natbornkiller 12-11-2012 03:02 PM

Wheres the quality ?

Mattsurewood 12-11-2012 03:04 PM

Too many products lately...all the companies need to slow down and regulate...quality over quantity...

What an idiot

Tracy has failed again. This guy is supposed to be the guru? I've seen 10 guys on scf's site make customs that smoke this crap. This might be the ugliest, biggest pile of garbage I've ever seen produced. I generally hate all Panini products, but this one makes me want to vomit.

Tracy, stop spewing out these garbage products and take some pride in your work.

death2redemptions 12-11-2012 05:10 PM

YUCK...that is some really nasty crap

91Braves 12-11-2012 05:15 PM

Panini makes another fantastic product! Thanks. :D

Archangel1775 12-11-2012 05:51 PM

It's strange, I actually was impressed by the artwork. There were a couple times I had to look twice to see if it was an actual photo or not. Almost a little history lesson. Hopefully the production is somehwere between Sport Kings and Americana. I could care less about the autographs unless they are on card.

D J Sportscards 12-11-2012 05:52 PM

I think the only good looking thing on this is the box, and even that is a stretch....

mwash1983 12-11-2012 06:10 PM

Never buying panini products again.

Ajax1723 12-11-2012 06:15 PM

This looks like a bad version of the baby of Goodwin Champions and 2012 Goodwin Champions.

basically, its a bad version of a bad product.

BackupGoalie 12-11-2012 06:41 PM

This product looks like garbage

death2redemptions 12-11-2012 06:47 PM

Just about all Panini is garbage

csmtampa 12-11-2012 06:59 PM

I've always had a thing for Elizabeth Montgomery ever since I watched Bewitched as a kid lol

thewild3 12-11-2012 07:19 PM

Damn, this is some crappy product. The only thing more crappier than the product are the comments left on their site.

ZappBrannigan 12-11-2012 11:03 PM

What a mess.....

WilsonValdez 12-11-2012 11:21 PM

I can't be the only one who likes it?
At the THROWBACK price of $3 per pack?

thewild3 12-11-2012 11:31 PM

$3 per pack is a throwback Price? ROTFLMAO...... I missed that part. Topps put out cheaper packs prices than that and the return is way way way better than Puknini.

91Braves 12-11-2012 11:36 PM

'12 Topps Chrome was cheaper than that per pack for a long time..
Never buying panini products again.
