Trevor Bauer's Card Values - Up, Down or No Change?
 

Curious what you think.

Don't they only go like $25 these days? How much could they really change?

In a small market, they can only go down. Especially the market being Cleveland. I'm a huge Tribe fan, but am also a realist. When Kipnis was on fire midseason, his base chrome auto's topped around $20. Put him anywhere else, its doubled at the very least.

i was shocked as hell when kipnis had a good month so i think that it was pretty fair that he only got to $20 because people were trying to figure out if he was that good...and they were right...he wasn't

I'm not biased

I've been a tribe fan my entire life, so I've followed their prospects closely for the most part. Bauer will escalade over the hype drew pomeranz once had in the Tribe system, but even his cards didn't sell for what they would have if he was with a large market team (and going to the rockies didn't help him either). I'm about 90% sure his card prices will remain the same because of this trade, or even drop these next 2 months. Looking ahead to spring training though he has a lot more potential for his cards now since the Tribe are without an ace, and all it takes is a good first couple starts and I could see his prices really start to jump. Short term next 2 months I think prices will be down (even more than the normal offseason decline), but from Feb-Apr there's gonna be a much better increase than he would have experienced if still in arizona. Long term the Indians will let Bauer blossom and then deal him away because they don't want to pay him.

I wouldn't quite assume that just yet. He had absolutely NOBODY batting around him. NOr do they yet this yea. To close the book on this guy is crazy.

Down IMO. Hard to go up moving to Cleveland especially with the talk of him having attitude issues, not willing to change his approach, etc

Cleveland is admittedly not a great card market... but he's coming from the Diamondbacks. Pretty much a lateral move in terms of the card market.

+1. He's gonna be hit or miss now. Part of me feels like he might turn out like Ubaldo when he got traded from the rockies, and end up with a 4.50+ ERA next season. Since they won't be competing let's hope his attitude won't affect his performance

Ya know he is young. I know he started his career in AZ, but who knows where he ends up in 7 years.

Value wise, 7 years from now doesn't mean #@#@#@#@.

Are the DBacks really a big step up from the Indians hobby wise? I'm beig serious just started collecting again but how could anyone getting traded from the DBacks go down?

next Carl Pavano, suck for a while and then blow up on the contract year.

The indians are a very poor selling prospect market. If Lindor were on a different team his prices might compare closer to Addison's. Best investment, load up on an Indians prospect cheap and hope he gets dealt to a bigger market

Not sure it was an attitude issue as much as an "I don't want to mess up my arm" issue

I have the same card available too. BGS 9.5 / 10. Its available for the right price.


I think Bauer may be dealt again before the season starts. He strikes me as a National League-type pitcher.

Yes Kipnis is the guy who had no one hitting AROUND HIM, he's obviously their clutch stud hitter and not Carlos Santana, good one

In all seriousness though scout I would consider Kipnis their clutch stud hitter after last season. I'm an Indians season ticket holder and probably watch at least 3/4ths of their season either at the game or on tv. I am really not a big fan of Santana, IMO he's not gonna be an Indian long term. There's a reason why Kip batted 3rd for part of the season, and I'd really like to see him batting 2nd and Santana down at 5th or 6th.

why were you "shocked as hell"? 152 hits, 14 hrs, 76 rbis, 31 sb in his first full season is pretty damn respectable in my opinion. arent you the guy that said boomo would double his money on the draft break? seems you may be wrong about a lot of things.
