latest report-trade pieces/names complete but Jays are working w Dickey to get a "possible" extension, they don't want him for one yr, obviously..Mets would get D'arnaud , Buck/Catcher, a minor league position player who isn't known and either Syndergaard OR some other top pitching prospect. The Mets would give up Dickey, Thole, a minor leaguer..My guess is a pitcher, Majia, Familia etc.. My god, it better not be Wheeler. lol C'mon Dickey, sign the extension already and let the Mets rebuilding process begin...

If the trade looks like the following, then the Mets make out like thieves. This is coming from a die-hard Mets fan. This is what most sources seem to be indicating Saturday night.
Mets give up: Robert Allen Dickey Josh Thole possible minor leaguer Toronto gives up: Travis D'Arnaud Noah Syndergaard John Buck possible 4th minor leaguer Sandy Alderson has a plan. This is not how you build a New York baseball team, and I like it. He gives up a 38 year old unique pitcher for a TOP 10 PROSPECT, a solid catcher, and a very solid pitching prospect. Can it get any more moneyball than that?

agree w that.. If this deal gets done, it appears to be a win for the Mets. With prospects , one never knows. Regardless, its the right move for the Mets.. No doubt

"Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
Rationale: Scouts with whom I've spoken generally think Syndergaard>Odorizzi. Ace upside. I like d'Arnaud>Myers. Positional value. " Wonder if some people will have the same reaction to this they had to the Royals trade.

This deal doesn't look like it's getting done.
What's on the table doesn't mean what's going through. It means what the Mets are demanding, and the Jays are balking. If this was a done deal, we'd have heard by now it was pending Dickey signing an extension.

This deal is a win-win for both teams. With the Florida deal, Toronto announced they're in win now mode. D'Arnaud and Syndergrad weren't going to be part of that current championship formula, while Dickey, a reigning Cy Young Award winner, certainly will.
On the Mets side, obviously Dickey alone wasn't about to put them over the edge, so getting 2 big (and young) pieces that they control for a while is big for rebuilding. The naivete of so many in this forum about prospects and their value is unreal - you obviously need to give a lot to get a reigning Cy Young Award winner regardless of age and pedigree/style. Bottom line is this deal makes sense for both teams involved and the new players will be in much better positions to succeed on their new teams. |

I bet the announcement will come sometime tomorrow. Sunday nights are generally considered the best nights for listings to start and stop, so I'd recommend holding off on listing your d'Arnauds and Syndergaards until then, if so.
