mikecala98 12-14-2012 04:24 PM

I hear arencibia.

centereacan06 12-14-2012 04:27 PM

I don't want Arencibia or Gose. I think I'm going to be very disappointed tonight.

:)!

Especially since Dickey said he wouldn't resign in Toronto, it just hurts the Mets by trading him there. Get a team like Texas or some organization like them to really overpay. Don't settle.

Would you rather am aging knuckleballer who most likely won't ever repeat what he did last year?

NastyPatches 12-14-2012 04:30 PM

My guess is Arencibia/Gose. Can't lose both your CFs... Lol. Doesn't sound like Dickey wants to sign in Toronto however

He's had 3 very good years, getting better each year from the age of 36. Why would he suddenly just stop being good?

Also, "aging" has no to little negative effect on "knuckler."

I have read nothing concrete. I saw Angels, O's, Rangers and Blue Jays....

I never said it was concrete

HadWayTooMuch 12-14-2012 04:33 PM

If I was NY, I'd rather have Olt.

Bruvydsb 12-14-2012 04:34 PM

CBS' Sports Jon Heyman reports that "it's believed" the Mets have a trade offer they like for R.A. Dickey.
Heyman hasn't confirmed who the offer is from, but various reports indicate that the Blue Jays are in the lead. Joel Sherman of the New York Post has reported that Dickey doesn't want to sign an extension with Toronto, but they appear to be the most likely destination if the matter can be resolved. For what it's worth, Heyman hears that J.P. Arencibia and Anthony Gose have been mentioned in trade talks. The Rangers, Orioles and Angels have also been mentioned as possible landing spots for the 2012 NL Cy Young Award winner.

IamRalpho 12-14-2012 04:35 PM

Yeah this is a little bit of jumping the gun, its not close.

And its not Rasmus.

And he doesnt wanna sign an extension per Heyman.

First the Sanchez to the Cubs thread and now this? Nice

I understand that age takes less of a toll on a knuckleballer (i.e. Wakefield), but I find it hard to believe he can repeat what he did last year. I like and guy and he has a great story, but I am just bring realistic.

So it is a rumor.....nothing set in stone....

TheHeel 12-14-2012 04:37 PM

I am a Mets fan and trading Dickey now would be best for the future. Face it, the Mets are not winning anything soon. Better stockpile for the future.

enyouartist 12-14-2012 04:38 PM

The problem is that the Mets seem to love to get a player to play a different position than his original. Where does Olt fit in with the Mets? He'll have to change positions. I don't like this deal. I think teams are really desperate for pitching, and Angels/Toronto/ Texas may overpay for Dickey. Mets should hold out for a king's ransom. Supply and demand.

This is what I've been saying. I like RA, but we need young guys.

But he was very solid in 2010 (36), very good in 2011 (37), and dominant in 2012 (38). Why wouldn't he be at least what he was in 2011? He may not throw 1 hitters every other week, but he can still be a very good pitcher for a few more years.

The knuckle ball isn't a pitch where you can scout it after a year and go up there with a good idea on where it's going to be. When it's on (which is often), even Dickey doesn't know where it's going.

hotbox 12-14-2012 04:39 PM

Andy Martino ‏@MartinoNYDN
Really believe Toronto is strong frontrunner, but can report Texas has indicated will trade Olt and RHP Cody Buckel for Dickey.

I don't think anyone's saying he can't redo 2011. But at the price the Mets are asking, he'll have to redo 2012 to be anywhere near worth it.

IamRalpho 12-14-2012 04:41 PM

Jesus Olt and Buckel, 2 Top 75 prospects for 1 year of Dickey?

That beats the Gose and a .220 hitting catcher
