Would you rather am aging knuckleballer who most likely won't ever repeat what he did last year?

Also, "aging" has no to little negative effect on "knuckler." |

If I was NY, I'd rather have Olt.

CBS' Sports Jon Heyman reports that "it's believed" the Mets have a trade offer they like for R.A. Dickey.
Heyman hasn't confirmed who the offer is from, but various reports indicate that the Blue Jays are in the lead. Joel Sherman of the New York Post has reported that Dickey doesn't want to sign an extension with Toronto, but they appear to be the most likely destination if the matter can be resolved. For what it's worth, Heyman hears that J.P. Arencibia and Anthony Gose have been mentioned in trade talks. The Rangers, Orioles and Angels have also been mentioned as possible landing spots for the 2012 NL Cy Young Award winner.

I understand that age takes less of a toll on a knuckleballer (i.e. Wakefield), but I find it hard to believe he can repeat what he did last year. I like and guy and he has a great story, but I am just bring realistic.

I am a Mets fan and trading Dickey now would be best for the future. Face it, the Mets are not winning anything soon. Better stockpile for the future.

The problem is that the Mets seem to love to get a player to play a different position than his original. Where does Olt fit in with the Mets? He'll have to change positions. I don't like this deal. I think teams are really desperate for pitching, and Angels/Toronto/ Texas may overpay for Dickey. Mets should hold out for a king's ransom. Supply and demand.

This is what I've been saying. I like RA, but we need young guys.

The knuckle ball isn't a pitch where you can scout it after a year and go up there with a good idea on where it's going to be. When it's on (which is often), even Dickey doesn't know where it's going. |

Andy Martino @MartinoNYDN
Really believe Toronto is strong frontrunner, but can report Texas has indicated will trade Olt and RHP Cody Buckel for Dickey.

I don't think anyone's saying he can't redo 2011. But at the price the Mets are asking, he'll have to redo 2012 to be anywhere near worth it.
