This list is funny, and the reason I read but do not subscribe to BA. Ruff is lighting up the Gulf this winter like the Minors last year. Number 9?

I have no idea who Roman Quinn even is.

He's also 26, and is barely a 1B.

Plus its winter league stats, tell me who else is "lighting up the Gulf" this winter and see where they are ranked.

You're placing too much emphasis on stats. A lot of minor leaguers put up good stats but are old for their level and do not have a swing/approach that will translate to the majors. See Rich Poythress and Dallas McPherson and countless other Quadruple-A players. Ruf is 26 years old, so putting up HUGE numbers in AA against 20-21 year olds isn't that impressive.

You also say he's "lighting up" the Winter League, but I don't call hitting .258 and striking out in 1/3 of his AB's against significantly younger competition "lighting it up"

Quinn could be one of the fastest players in the minors not named Hamilton or DeShields Jr.

Very true, thanks for the good points. I disregarded him for prospecting due to his age long ago, even when he started to hit homer after homer last year. I still think if they consider him young enough to make the list, then he go's on the list. I mean if he is young enough to be on the list at all, then age shouldnt statistically affect his place onn the list. Having said that, I have to say I agree with your points, thanks!!!

I think Ruff can have a major league career and be better than those AAAA guys, he shouldnt be type cast yet. He very well could carve out a niche. But to say he should be a top ranked prospect, is not something that should be said.

I am rooting for him, I like stories where people prove others wrong.

Can't believe Sebastian Valle is not a top 10 prospect but Tommy Joseph is #3. Very interesting if you ask me.

been buying up cheap low numbered roman quinn autos for the past couple of months. Nice to see a little BA love. Plus he's gonna be in the top 100 prospects. Even better.

The list really reflects Ruben's terrible job of managing a minor league system. Decent players, but so much more could be there if he didnt deal it all for a year or two of Roy Oswalt, Hunter Pence, etc.

Lack of plate discipline. Atrocious walk rate that continued to drop this season in addition to a climbing strike out rate.
