Default Thoughts on Memories since it's been out a while

Just curious what the hobby as a whole feels about this set. I've been picking up some pc cards, but as a whole not all that interested. It does shock me what some of the cards are going for and what some are asking for them. Some are just ridiculous.

Auto wise seems great. Base wise, especially on players from the original set, it makes no sense to me.

Nice product.
Buy back autos are well done.
Non auto buybacks are kinda cool. Like picking up some low serial # cards of low end guys cheap.
The original cards.autos checklist is pretty good.
Piazza is huge get in the autos. Some other guys who don't have many autos like Lasorda, Pedro Martinez. Big money autos of ALbert and Ichiro...
With only 155 cases made. It was done right. If you can get box prices reasonable, it;s nice break.

I'm kinda in that boat. I've got thousands of the originals in my collection. They aren't worth anything, but leaf stamps a serial number on a card just like mine and it's all of a sudden worth $100 or more in some cases with no auto? Seems really silly.

I also dig picking up some serial #'ed cards from players I followed growing up (who were minor stars at best), and from a great set....1990 Leaf! While I probably won't buy a box, I'm having a ton of fun searching for a few cards in this set.

I love the product even though I got f'ed in the a in my boxes lol. I got a couple rare autos which are harder to get than guys like Frank, Maddux, Randy, Nolan, etc but unfortunately they were of no name players. I would bust it again though because the chances to get those big name players are in many cases still better than hitting some of the no name guys

I would guess at least half the run has been opened.
Maybe 75 sealed cases left?

I think that due to the extremely short print run and limited availability, the interest isn't where it should be. I love the product and am impressed with Leafs aggressive efforts with having a product with cards with players in MLB uniforms

Come on now. They bought a bunch of 5 cent commons and stamped them. Theyd didn't exactly re-invent the wheel. Hell, they bought cheap wheels, stamped them, and sold them as their own. Very sad if you ask me.

Followd the player when I was young.....saw him in a 2012 product and jumped at the search! Many think this product is silly, but there's still a fun chase to be had!

Considering the site you run I'm surprised you don't see the draw of these. I was 13 in 1990 and at the height of my card collecting as a kid. Is is a great way to get some updated versions of cards I loved as a kid. Plus many of us have our PC player in this year. I'm not a prospect chaser and prefer the guys from the 80's and 90's.

Now THIS is funny! Asking 80 times the price of one that doesn't have 1/1 stamped on it. There's a sucker born everyday I guess.

The asking price is 800.00 and you can buy an original for about 8 bucks.

Frank Thomas has a pretty good group of hardcore collectors that go nuts with anything of his that is low serial #. No matter what it is.

I forget the deal with his Topps rookie card. Something about some error on it with his name and those cards sell for thousands. Don't get that one either.

You actually make a good point. My problem is with the company itself. They bought a bunch of 5 cent commons and stamped them. That doesn't impress me at all. I love older cards. I would love to see buybacks in products, even stamped ones. But not 5 cent commons. Heritage does it right. at least 1960s commons with stamps are kind of cool. (I know, my opinion.) When they hit 1980s, it will get boring.

I just can't compliment a company who has airbrushed cards without a license (glorified Broders) and then puts nickel cards with stamps in them. I do like the auto part, but the regular part, a joke.
