My guess is it's a way to try and avoid sales fees. Not sure if ebay takes a cut of shipping charges.

eBay changed its policy long time ago to charge fees on Sales price + shipping.

Ebay does charge on shipping, but excessive shipping is still prohibited. It may be removed of it is reported.

I seem to remember the guy that pulled this making like 30 threads one day sometime this year, saying he pulled this and that it was an amazing Yankee prospect and that it is worth thousands.

Must be the same guy.

It's up to 2 grand because this Yankees prospect is a future 20 game winner and 75 hr hitter you haven't heard of him he's related to babe Ruth and Mickey mantle and I think he's a distant cousin of jeter as well i got outbid. At $1750

I'm going to secretly laugh my arse off when he sees his bill after getting charged the fees on the shipping. That of course won't happen unless the buyer actually pays for the item with that amount if shipping so it probably won't ever get that far.

The theory is: By having a high shipping price the seller won't have to give back the excess shipping money if the buyer forces a return / opens case.
