Default Effect of grading on value

for modern cards what kind of effect does getting something graded have? suppose it gets like a 9.5 or a 10?

For example something like a Billy Hamilton Chrome Auto or Castellanos, someone hot right now, what would it move a $40 card to after being graded?

1. Depends on if you are the first person to get that particular card graded. First BGS 9 or BGS 10 (or PSA 10) always commands a premium.

2. using your example, a BGS 9.5 could almost double a card's value. Some people NEED that gold label and are willing to pay the premium.

well castellanos is more like 25-30 raw and after grading he goes for about 50-60, that's not always the case with every card and in the off-season it's a little more screwy

during the season often a 10-12 base auto can turn into a $30ish base auto, once you get a little higher up 20 might be 50 and once they get to over 100 or so the percentage starts to go down rapidly, to more like 1.5 times, etc

No, but you can look it up and find out how many of that card have been graded.
