In a nutshell:

BGS = Beckett Grading Services. They grade card condition (and certified autographs on cards) but do not provide opinion on the authenticity of the autographs that are cards. Major competitors are PSA and SGC.

JSA = James Spence. They authenticate/provide opinion on authenticity of the autographs on various types of memorabilia , including cards. A major competitor is PSA/DNA, which is a service provided by PSA

So one does card condition, one autographs. They may overlap on non-certified autographed cards. For example , if you have a 1952 Topps that was in-person signed (ie not certified by a card company like Topps) by Mickey Mantle, you would have the card condition graded by BGS, and the autograph authenticated by JSA.
