Default Bogus "Paypal" email?

So I figured I'd ask here since this is the section of the forum I use the most and everybody here is always helpful.
Got an email from "service@paypal.com" saying that my account has been limited pending resolve of a case number.
It's got a link to sign into paypal in the email.
I log into my paypal account (through paypal's site not the email) and under the resolution center I have no pending cases. As basically a buyer and not seller on paypal I've never had any problems so I'm guessing it's a scam.
But I wanted to check with some other folks to make sure.
Thanks for any help.

-Ignore, delete, don't respond, you did right to verify directly at the source.

Good luck.

Forward the whole email to paypal (spoof@paypal.com).

What is Spoof?

A spoof or phishing (pronounced "fishing") email is an email that is designed to look like it comes from a well-known company and that tells some story to get you to click a link or button in the email.

The links or buttons in the email take you to a website that is also called a "spoof" because it, too, fakes the appearance of a popular website or company. The spoof site asks you to input personal information, such as your credit card number, Social Security number or account password.

You think you are giving information to a trusted company, when in fact, you are supplying it to a criminal.

Common deceptive tactics of spoof emails and websites.

The following pages will help you prevent falling for a spoof email and protect your account. The lessons learned here can be applied not only on PayPal, but wherever you do business online.

Think an email is a spoof? Forward it to spoof@paypal.com.

If its a genuine email from Paypal it will always have your full name in it to start like Hello, "First Name" "Last Name" nothing else like Paypal user or w/e it said

NEVER CLICK LINKS IN EMAILS, EVEN IF YOU KNOW THE PERSON SENDING IT, THAT IS HOW VIRUSES SPREAD

the email you got is not legit, it is bogus, do you know how to look at the full header, you will see the real sender of that email, IT DID NOT COME FROM PAYPAL

yeah, forward it, with the full headers to paypal, at the spoof email address mentioned above, easy to remember, spoof@paypal.com
