A card missing the autograph is NOT an error card, deal with it...

Are you here to cause trouble?

Because if you had read the posts both Beckett and Tuff Stuff say that a certified autograph card missing the autograph is indeed an error.

Now who should I listen to? Some people on the boards posting nonsense or someone who works at Beckett and Tuff Stuff?

Yes, but any card can have the autograph rubbed off without leaving any damage.

error but not valuable that is what beckett said.

Now if you clearly understand what beckett said i question your motive trying to sell your taveras auto lot in here with clearly overprice card for error cards that you know exactly that is has less value than the real autographed card.

you're true scammer!

My guess is the card company is considering an error to be more like a player’s name being misspelled, rather than just a player missing the autograph on a card in the stack. Not sure if we have an “official definition of an error card, but generally, any card that is missing part of the intended printing process, or has a portion of the process misprinted, I would consider an error card. There is a big difference between Uncorrected Errors (UER) and situations where correct versions exist.

I would consider a missing autograph an error card. We would grade the card and actually label it as “Missing Autograph” on the label. Whether collectors consider the card without an autograph to be worth more or less is up to them. In most cases, the card missing the autograph would probably sell for less, from my experience.
wow you just contradict yourself here.

Either way I will be sure to bring this up to Topps when I speak to them as I am sure others within Topps will not find this as funny as your friend.
Because its none of your business who I speak to in their off time. And you will be happy to know now 2 people at topps laughed at you, him and his boss that he forwarded this to. They are fully aware you bought the card on the secondary market for less than 25 dollars and now expect the world.

They are not worried nor should they about a SORTING mistake at an offsite center that was from before they worked there. But by all means cry them a river, its only wasting your own time.

This card is most likely a back up in case the other one gets damaged. Topps will have the player sign the correct one, put the sticker on it, and insert it into the pack-then they destroy the other one. Yours is most likely the backup that was supposed to be destroyed but somehow made its way into packs. Here is an example from Bowman's Facebook page.

In the photo there are clearly 2 of every superfractor. When people questioned why this was they said it was in case the original is damaged. Hope this helps.

Great story, the ops is not a superfractor nor a 1/1 its a base auto that according to him made its way into packs.

Disagree with Dave Peters and he will report you. He already got someone else banned for not agreeing that his card is worth huge money

That's one of the many points that others have made - it is NOT a certified autograph card as it doesn't have the stickers. Without the stickers, it is NOT certified as an autograph card (note that it states not valid without sticker) - that is the point of the sticker system. As such, Topps is under no obligation to provide you an authentication sticker or facilitate the card being signed.

At a minimum though, with another copy having appeared, we have definitively determined that the card in question is not a 1/1. We have also determined that it is not a superfractor. We are making progress.

If nothing else, this thread has been entertaining in many respects.

Sorry I am late to the party. But if you have one copy of the card, and someone else has other copy of the SAME exact card. Then as we ALL learned in math class... 1+1= 2. There are two copies this card on the market, thus making it mathematically impossible to be a 1/1.

Then Topps has some explaining to do.

And this would be an acceptable answer for you?

Sorry but in no way would this be an acceptable answer for me.

Why? Nothing on the card or associated with the card shows where Topps made any representation of this card being intended to be a 1/1. The preponderance of evidence has shown the contrary.

If you had perhaps bothered to read the thread you would in fact see that it was marketed as a 1/1. The little triangle on the back is where the 1/1 sticker would go. And Beckett even says its a /1 card.

Card Serial Number: 0004133288

Set Name : 2005 Bowman Chrome A-Rod Throwback Autographs
Player Name : A.Rodriguez 1994 SF/1
Date Graded : Tuesday, February 28, 2006
Centering Grade : 9.5
Corner Grade : 9.5
Edges Grade : 9.5
Surfaces Grade : 8.5
Autograph Grade : Not Available
Final Grade : 9.0

Now it may not be a 1/1 and therefore Topps has some explaining to do.

I think the real hilarity in this thread is the thought that Beckett is relevant and have even a basic sort of knowledge as to what they're talking about.

Again it really amazes me that so many people are sticking up for Topps on this.

I am pretty sure back in 2005 the arod autograph throwbacks were a huge selling point for this product and most likely the main card that everyone was after was not even inserted autographed.

Now it turns out there are two copies of a /1 card.

How on earth this is somehow ok with everyone is beyond me.

I think most of you are here just to cause trouble and if the nonsense doesn't stop I will start reporting people again.
