Default Triple Threads 1/1 XXIV Gehrig Replacement

As most of you know I pulled the foldout 1/1 of Gehrig from my case from blowout. IT was some damage in the back corner. When I went to \Topps about it they said to sent it in as any other card, when I told them I would do that because I didn't want just any other 1/1 in return they said they will send me a box of Sterling and one of Triple Threads to make up for the damage. Any thoughts on this attempt to correct it by Topps? On a positive note I get to keep the card, which is nice considering how beautiful it is. Just wondering if you guys think I should have handled it another way or should have asked for more? Also the Gehrig is on the verge of becoming available once I can talk myself into listing it.
How do you guys think it should be listed BIN with BO or just let it run with reserve?
If anyone on here would like first crack at it let me know and shoot me some offers.

Here are somo pictures of the card:

Now as you can see in this next picture the damage isn't as bad as I originally thought and it would be hard to notice had I not seen it originally so I don't think it should hurt the resell on it much if any.

Thanks for all your answers on this before guys and look forward to hearing from you.

It will hurt the resale, but if they're going to give you a box of triple threads and a box of Sterling, I'd say you'll come out ahead. Should be able to get 250 or so for the two boxes, and with the Gerhig already being a 1/1, really hard to replace since your getting to keep it.

I'm shocked that Topps ponied up that much You're really rolling the dice listing that on fleabay because even if you disclose the damage you are opening yourself up the one of the many wonderful scammers who just live for this kind of opportunity to file a item not as described claim on you. If you really don't want the card, I'd shop it around at shows first. If you list it on fleabay use BIN BO w/immediate payment required if BIN is hit so you can at least filter out the idiots and sell to someone you feel comfortable with.

It seems pretty fair to me. The Gehrig is a great card and there are no others like it, so if a buyer is interested in it I don't think that corner will matter much maybe 10%, but they are sending you unopened premium products for their mispackaging or mishandling is fair...Because there isn't another card like it and if anyone wants it they will have to come to you! Good call not sending it back to them...and whatever your boxes bring you good luck!!

Also if you're not really hurting for money, you may want to hold off until the economy picks up. It's a buyers market for sure these days. It's not like the bottom will fall out of that card since its a 1/1 plus since you pulled it, you know when you do decide to list it will be the first time its available.

1) If you use a reserve, the card almost never sells.

2) If you do a BIN/BO, how do you know exactly what to accept for the card? How do you know what is too low and what is just right?

3) Topps really came thru on that.

Kudos to Topps for the free, high dollar boxes! I'm a little shocked they didn't offer you a blaster box of 2007 Topps baseball....

As for the card, list as it is on EBay. The things going for you:
1) Obviously, it is a 1/1
2) The damage is to the back of the booklet - the scan when opened is BEAUTIFUL. A true Gehrig collector might be displaying it open anyways...
3) The damage isn't the worst thing in the world - no creases, or even worse with those booklets, missing/torn off diecuts on the front.

I would think you will pull somewhere between $800 - $1,000 for the card, given its current condition. I think 6 relic Topps Sterling Gehrigs /10 can be had for as little as $200ish, which is a higher end and probably more sought after product. Very nice pull nonetheless, congrats and good luck in your sale!
