Strasburg or bust. A few other decent names, but overproduction killed that product as well.

They bow like crazy, and are extremely overproduced. Not worth it imo

2010 Bowman Chrome is not horrible at $580. With the production being higher than normal for a bowman chrome issue you have a high rate of cases with little color and loaded with scrub autos.

Bought a box the other day and was highly disappointed with the quality of the cards.

Don't do it. Buy boxes of 2010 Bowman instead.

I hear the same responses to this question every time but people don't account for base cards of Darin Ruf, Will Middlebrooks, Sano, Sanchez, Wil Myers (his auto is in bowman but base is in BC, go figure), and all of the USA guys (Starling, Lindor, etc).

Also, if you hit the right case... Sano, Sanchez, Miller, and Starling Autos are always together and sometimes double up with color.

Also, the condition problems everybody mentions are very real but have their pros.

1. Bowing doesn't affect the card at all. Just put it in a sleeve/top loader and it will correct itself.

2. The scratching/dimples etc are very common so high grades are tough BUT fresh pulled are going to be in the best shape so if grading is your thing, these will bring HUGE premiums in 9 or 9.5 when guys break out and the common collector simply can not find high grade autos.

There was a reason for that. A lack of QC from the Topps monkeys.

Correcting bowing is a slow process; see my 2010 Heritage chromes.

1 case worth of chrome base isn't a good incentive to drop $600.

I hit a sano that was like 7 centering and a chapman missing a border on my last case and there is zero doubt in my mind I'm getting my money back due to the base cards, a wil myers ref, middlebrooks ref, almora usa blue ref, etc, etc

One of the most underrated sets easily

i'll say what he already did, BOWING MEANS NOTHING, in no way does that affect grades unless the card is actually bent or creased

Lemme break it down like a fraction for ya.

If you can buy a flat card or a bowed card, which one would you choose and why?

Centering was horrendous on this set, which does affect grading.

So just for fun I did an analysis of the potential big names and what they could bring

Figure on ~4 Chromes per player, per case

Let's say all of the big names get you $5 per chrome (they won't, but whatever)

Big Names -

Myers
Middlebrooks
Chapman
Sano
Miller
Vizcaino
Chapman
Strasburg Rookies (prob only 2 per case, double the amount of vets+rcs to prospects)
Stanton Rookies
Almora
Starling
Lindor

Puts you at $240, before any fees, packaging expenses. A very generous estimate that it would get you there anyways

Best of luck on getting $340 out of the autos and the rest of the 30 year old washed out prospect checklist. Some of these guys were 26 when BC 2010 came out!

Case would have to look a little something like this to be profitable
(This would be the best case of this stuff I have ever seen)

Strasburg Auto $150
Miller Auto $20
Chapman Auto $25
Sano Auto $50
Starling or Almora USA Auto $45 (preferably both)
Davidson Auto $10
Vizcaino Auto $10
Seager Auto $10
Sanchez Auto $30

Hopefully one of those is colorful

and then the usual scrub autos, which are numerous.

So basically, as I said earlier, Strasburg or bust. And I'll finish by stating that I loved BC 2010. It got me back into the hobby, but it is such a hit/miss product. There are some people who may not have gotten $200 out of a case of this stuff.

^^^^^^ this
Lots of potential still exist in this case. The rookie prospects are still some of the best from each organization. I think you'll see case prices rising on this product over the next few months.

I forgot about Kepler...

The fact that the base provides value is the key. ALL WAX BUSTING IS A GAMBLE! You lose most of the time but if base can offer value it offsets any hits you take. This is the best bust for the money if you ask me.

I usually only bust cases on release day but if I were to jump on something right now, 2010 BC would be at the top of my list.

I have 3 cases of this "mass produced" product on the brown truck today. I'll buy all day long with some of the prospects bound to have a breakout year.
