No offense, but I would guess this card will sell for closer to $12k than it will to $5k.

Personally, I would get Beckett or Heritage Auctions or someone like that to sell something like this. I think they would weed out the jokers and get serious offers from deep pocketed buyers who trust them (no offense, but I wouldn't buy a $8-10k card from a newbie seller, but I would from Heritage). It would also be worth it IMO to pay their seller's fee, so that you wouldn't have any threat of a chargeback or someone scamming the card from you. And since paypal would take 3% and ebay 2% if you sell it on ebay, using Beckett or Heritage will likely cost you less than 5% more, and you would likely make that up in a higher selling price through them.

I probably shouldn't give names. But I have several friends I met when they were in the minors who have recently gotten call-ups. I have been going to spring training for years, and became friends with a few of the guys.

Default UPDATE

Just wanted to provide an update (8/14/13). I have spoken with the VP of Sports and Entertainment division at Topps, and he says that Babe Ruth will be in hand within 2-3 weeks!! I will be posting a video to YouTube when the card arrives.

Not that I really care, but I am curious why it's such a bad thing to mention who you know that plays in the majors.

Are you afraid someone is going to go up to them and say they know a guy on a message board that knows them?

That's a strange looking swatch.
Amazing card. I just read through the entire thread and the one thing that stuck out the most was that it was from first hobby box purchased. That is like winning the lottery on the first lottery ticket you ever buy. Crazy! Congrats on an awesome card. I only hope to one day pull a card 1/10th as good as that and I have already opened hundreds of hobby boxes.

Awesome card! But I don't get why the odd shape they made the window for the cut. It even cuts out half of the tiny picture they used of Ruth and it looks weird. Still a gem though.
