”Since making Topps our exclusive baseball card licensee, they have continually validated that decision by bringing clarity to the marketplace and reinvigorating the hobby, especially among young people,” said Howard Smith, senior vice president, Licensing, Major League Baseball.

Pmsl @ 'clarity to the marketplace'. Would love to have seen the exclusivity ended.

I wish I had more hands, so I could give this four thumbs down.

I like Topps. Wouldn't have minded the competition though, could have helped Customer service. The cards look great this year, the customer service is the problem.

I don't dislike Topps baseball products but I would like to see UD and Panini making licensed product. Forces Topps to be competitive and creative with their product.

Upper Deck does High End Baseball very well. They are the ones I wish would get back in it.

Ultimate, Exquisite and Premier blow away anything Topps does IMO.

If Topps lost the license, you could kiss this hobby as we know it goodbye.

No more Topps = No more Bowman Chrome.

This is great news, IMO

Do you work for Panini?

Topps' CS is garbage, but I don't deal with it a high percentage of my time in this hobby. Panini has much better CS, but if I were forced to choose between a Panini Exclusive License and a Topps exclusive license, I'll take Topps all day. Sorry Topps haters, BC is what drives the industry. It's what brought people out for Strasburg and Harper and it is what will continue to do so.

It's not about Topps losing the license. It's about exclusivity. Without competition, consumers suffer. The end.

Nobody is saying anything about topps of losing their license, the reason everyone is upset is because there is no parity in the baseball market.

Ugh, the stranglehold continues. Competition is better for business. Look at wrestling for a prime example of the stagnant lull it's fallen into, or the Madden franchise.

I wonder how much Topps paid to keep it through 2020.

Just threw up in my mouth a little bit, then proceeded to swallow it just so I could throw up again. Hmmmmmm why does BC own the market... because topps has more money than any other company and the exclusive rights. Give panini that amount of dollars and license or upper deck and see the stuff they would come out with. Hell, I dont remember his name but one of the forum members were posting cards he had made and it looked better than all three companys. Topps just doesn't care and I mean honestly Bowman Chrome ---------- well whatever Blah to many BC lovers here for me to start on that and because of their fan base the only product yet I have turned a profit on
