What about Ryan Howard? Pretty consistent throughout the years

+1 Even though I am a homer, he is really underrated.

![]() Gomez is fast and has pop in his bat. Has been able to show his full potential though cause he platoons. Lucroy was on fire last year before his injury and he can hit for an average and has great defense

You named two guys that have 1 solid season under their belts. Konerko has been there for a while now, with little recognition. Just look at his career numbers.....

It's hard to believe but Konerko has at least 20 homeruns 13 out of the last 14 seasons. He's a model of consistency.

I'll go ahead and jump on the bandwagon and agree that Paul Konerko is very underrated. He should get more attention for the type of numbers he has put up through the years. No media love for Konerko. |

I have to vote for the rWAR leader from 2009 to 2012.
As evidence that this player is underrated, a great deal of fans used his presence on the US WBC squad as evidence that elite players weren't taking the competition seriously. === To stir the pot, it seems to me that in recent years, Konerko vs. Zobrist is quite similar to the Trout-Cabrera MVP situation. 2009-2012 Konerko 2489 PA, .297/.376/.519 Zobrist 2596 PA, .268/.369/.458 Last edited by grounder; 03-18-2013 at 07:16 PM. |

Howard has declined ever year but one since 2006. I think he's overrated if anything.

Michael young and Adrian belter most certainy! The players half voted young many times and how bout some love for Robbie Ross? He had a great season last year that went under the radar. Austin Jackson, Alex rios, Jason libel, James McDonald I also like IMO and maybe Ryan dempster

Alfonso Soriano. Everyone looks at his big contract and insults his effort, they miss that fact that he has hit 20 Hrs 11 years in a row. Ill give Konerko a little credit too.

Ben Zobrist hands down for me, not to bring too many advanced stats into this, but he has had the highest WAR over the last 4 years in the entire major leagues. Crazy stuff.

Can't make a good case against Konerko as the most underrated either. The level of offense that he has produced over a long period of time should have made him a household name by now. He will almost certainly reach the magical 500 HR mark which should greatly increase his odds of a Cooperstown selection.
Paul Konerko is my choice for the most underrated offensive player in the game today. As for pitcher, I have to assume that the hitters in the AL know better than us who is the best. They say David Price, who am I to argue? David Price it is. Some have questioned how he can be underrated with the CY Young on his mantel. Do this-Go to any national sports web site(ESPN, CBSSPORTS, etc) and look for pitcher rankings in the AL. Try and find one with Price in the top two. You can't do it. Never has a pitcher so obviously been the best but not recognized by media as the best. I'll be on the field before the game at tomorrows Rays/Tigers game in Lakeland, Florida. If I can catch a minute with Verlander(assuming he's there) I'm gonna ask him where Price ranks amongst the top pitchers in the AL. If able to pull it off, I'll let all of you know what he says.

I know I collect the Reds and the Blue Jays but Jose Bautista and Joey Votto. Bautista was a back to back home run champion, 3 straight all star appearances, 2 time silver slugger and 2 time hank Aaron award winner. Also Votto was the 2010 NL MVP
