Default Ebay refund fees question

I sold a couple of cards to the same person. Before I realized it, I received payment for both cards with full shipping price for each.

1) If I refund shipping for one of the items through Paypal, am I still being charged for full shipping price for both?
2) Do I refund directly through PP? I don't see any options for refund on ebay.

You should be able to provide a partial refund through eBay. If you do the refund through PayPal, you will not receive your eBay final value fee credit on the refunded shipping cost.

Where can I find the refund option?
The only place I see is "View Paypal Transaction" under the "More Actions" drop down menu. I see a refund option on that PP page.

The easiest way would be to just send the buyer a message explaining what happened and stick a couple bucks in the envelope with his cards.

If he's going to go that route, might as well provide the refund through PayPal then, right?

I said that, but I've always just done it through PayPal. It didn't strike me until last week that I wasn't getting the FVF credit by doing it that way. Thus, I have never tried to do a partial refund directly through eBay. Can't get to eBay from work, otherwise I would try to help.

Looks like going through Paypal is the only way. To receive credit, you need to open a case.

Refunding your buyer

Yeah, I went ahead and did it through PP. Also sent a message on ebay telling him I did partial refund for combined shipping. Refunded $2.50 instead of all $2.99.

Either way would work. I've never refunded through ebay. The extra couple cents wasn't worth the extra time it would take to figure it out imo. I was just suggesting an easy alternative.

I just had the same thing happen yesterday and I've had it happen in the past. I just go into Paypal and do a partial refund every time and explain to the buyer what the refund is for. I wouldn't worry about the fees. It's only like $.25. And if you are worried about the fees, refund them back minus the fee amount.

To each his own then. I could provide 10 partial refunds thru PayPal in the amount of time it takes me to find two $1 bills in my house.
