agree. the only thing j-up is good for is homeruns. and he has 11 with only 17rbis which means he doesn't hit with runners on base as well. His OBP is nothing to cheer about either, His numbers scream All-Star not MVP

If you watched the Braves this season you'd realize the reason he only has 17 RBI's is because the hitters in front of him never get on-base. Most games this season B.J. Upton and Heyward have been the #1 and #2 hitters and both are hitting below .150. Although he does need to improve his numbers with RISP.

Do I think he will be MVP? It's possible but I have doubts

BTW: J-Up just hit his 12th HR (18 RBI).

yeah he has 19 rbis because he hit into a fielders choice. guess you missed that and there was no one on base again for his homerun. Point proven.

Did you not notice he got an RBI? He did his job by getting the runner home. No, he didn't hit a HR but that was his only plate appearance where he had with runners in scoring position. Most hitters in the three hole will have more opportunities in a game. You didn't prove anything. If the Braves got on-base more often that last home run wouldn't have been a solo shot, like most all of them.

However, as I already said, he does need to improve when there are runners in scoring position.

im not saying he isn't a great player, im just saying he is not in the MVP conversation. his OBP is way below what you expect from a 300 hitter with 12homers and 18 rbis.

He isnt eligible, threw 59 innings last year, from mlb.com:
A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).

Well I can agree with that. At least as of right now I don't think J-Up has MVP type numbers.

Ok, he's in the conversation obviously but his numbers are one sided to me. Someone who hits .302 and hits as many home runs should not have a obp below .400, and I honestly think he has a problem hitting with runners on base. To me an MVP isn't bothered by those things. And I think harper gets a little
bit of an advantage over everyone because he is basically coming out at an extremely young age off of a very solid rookie season and putting MVP numbers right off the bat (no pun intended).
