Default What would be the benefits of selling cards on consignment

Not sure if this is the right place for this topic, but I see a lot of the big online case breakers offering to sell your hits for you and I'm assuming they take a cut? What would be benefits of doing this...

I offer this...

If they are a top rated seller and can get you a 20% discount on fees, you only wind up losing a very small percentage more then what you would gotten had you done it yourself. Plus you do nothing and get paid.

There are also times where you coud lose $$ by waiting to have the card shipped to you before being able to list it.

It also very beneficial to international members so they don't have to pay a high shipping cost to receive the card from the breaker and then most likely deal with an international transaction to sell the card back to someone in the US.

And some people just dont know how to use ebay properly...

Plus a top rated seller will get there items viewed more times than if you're not one.

You have to be a power seller in order to be a top rated seller.

Top rated is better.

The way it is now with the new ebay fees you would pay 30 cents, plus 11.9% of the sale price in fees (combined ebay and paypal) if you were not a top rated seller. If you were a top rated seller it would be 10.1%.

If you buy in bulk, shipping and supplies should cost you almost $2.00 exactly.

If he is giving you 85% of the sale price as a top rated seller, he would lose money on any item that sells for under $40. He would make 4.9% of the total sale price above $40. So if he sells a $100 item, he would make 4.9% of $60 which comes out to $2.94.

He has to do serious volume and/or move a lot of high end cards to make it worth his while which it seems like he does.

I thought it was flat 10% now for auctions/BIN, and paypal would be 2.9%?

I believe it is 9% FVF + 2.9% for paypal for a total of 11.9%.

It is 10% flat, or 9% with a store. Then 20% off of that if you are top rated.

That explains it. I didn't know about the 1% difference (I don't have a store, so it's 10% + 2.9%, with 20% off the original 10%).

Probstein's rates differ than other sellers.
Because of his volume eBay has a different
Deal set up with him. He discussed this
In the PSA forums.
