He sikes himself out by taking so much time, Why does he have to look at second base when nobody is even on 2nd?

What's in a Valverde and Coke?

A blown save and a loss.

The loss should go to Valverde, no, he only gets the blown save. Get rid of that guy now before he has another road blown save.

Leyland's favorite relievers: Luke Putkonen, Phil Coke, Jose Valverde.

Notice the trend here....

Meanwhile, an effective reliever like Darin Downs has pitched once in the last 2-3 weeks.

Jim Leyland

The guy is too loyal to guys that he personally likes, time to get rid of him, well actually, the time was last year when we could have got Francona. And no, this is not a snap reaction to one loss today, I haven't been a fan of his for a few years now, opposite of clutch as a manager, makes all the wrong calls in crunch time

You don't sound too smart, do you? 3 freaking apperances at the MLB level.

23.1 IP, 9 H, 2 HR, 29 K, .90 WHIP, 0.77 ERA in AAA Toledo

Wow, 2 HR's given up this season! Look like they all hit it out

Hasn't be walked 12? In AAA?

Hitters weren't missing his fastball last time up and his secondary pitches weren't very good.

That's not awful for him though. And his secondary pitches have looked a lot better lately. So while Rondon rots in Toledo, just keep running out Valverde. Makes sense.

You're declared manager for a day (on Friday) and we have a 1 run lead heading into the bottom of the 9th

Who do you send out there?

Jose Valverde

Or

Do-It-All Don Kelly?

No.

DFA Valverde, don't call up Rondon till he throws quality strikes and has good off-speed pitches, and make Benoit the closer, like I suggested back in March.

I'll take Rondon gladly, but for the moment I could live with Benoit closing. He's a little better than Valverde.

Tigers activate Austin Jackson from DL and send Avisail Garcia to Toledo.

Not a top 10 or anything, but still good news. Hopefully develops into a quality starter.

Porcello 2k's in the first inning. A good sign.

Is now a good time to mention Rick Porcello is the 5th starter?

Pitching brilliant once again.

If Valverde blows this one, he better not take the plane home.

Bert's got the stopwatch out on Valverde. Took him 35 seconds to pitch. Almost positive that is not allowed...

Pretty sure it's 60 seconds, and the rule isn't enforced anyways, and Valverde sucks.

8.04
When the bases are unoccupied, the pitcher shall deliver the ball to the batter within 12 seconds after he receives the ball. Each time the pitcher delays the game by violating this rule, the umpire shall call “Ball.” The 12-second timing starts when the pitcher is in possession of the ball and the batter is in the box, alert to the pitcher. The timing stops when the pitcher releases the ball.
The intent of this rule is to avoid unnecessary delays. The umpire shall insist that the catcher return the ball promptly to the pitcher, and that the pitcher take his position on the rubber promptly. Obvious delay by the pitcher should instantly be penalized by the umpire.

I thought you were talking about with guys on base, regardless, the rule is never enforced, so you're complaining about something most of your pitchers do as well.
