You might want to rephrase that because if that's how you really are then that's pretty pathetic. So you are saying that you basically lie to people outside your circle all the time then huh ?

Actually, never giving his word on nothing to Boo means that he does give his word on something to him, right? Simple case of the double negative.

Using one of the simplest equations in algebra... A + B = C. I "sort of" knew what "A" was. I say "sort of" because until someone else also bids, "A" is only what it takes to be the highest bidder. Therefore, "A" could have been as little as $21 at the time of the post, or much, much higher as it turned out.

I did NOT know what "B" would be. Therefore, the equation as I knew it to be was... A + ? = C. To simplify...A + ? = A + ?. If no one else was to bid, then it would have been even simpler... A = A. Without knowing if anyone else was going to bid, AND not knowing "how much", my example was risky.

#2:

Let's say you and a buddy missed the Vikings/Cowboys playoff game last week and neither of you heard the score. You both decide to make a friendly wager on the over/under in that game. Let's say it's at 42. Someone passing by said the Vikings scored 34 points by themselves. Neither of you know how many the Cowboys scored. Do you take the over or the under? You know half the equation, (which in reality is more than I knew since it took someone else to bid for my bid to actually be realized), so can you guarantee a win either way? The over looks obvious in a sense, but was it?
Those examples are really, really horrible. I have my degree in Accounting and most of my business electives were around statistics, so I have a bias.

They have nothing to do with sport cards in general, nothing to do with print runs in the card market, nothing to do with collectors' mentalities in the card market, nothing to do with anything in this post. The only thing you are saying is because you don't know the final outcome, everything must have an equal probability of happening.

Not knowing the FINAL outcome 100% does NOT equate to a complete and total lack of predictability. Yes, the card could have ended at $5 if somebody retracted a bid and nobody else bid on it, and it could have ended at $3,500 if a bidding war erupted. Possible? YES Probable? VERY, VERY UNLIKELY

You of all people know and are plugged into the SportKings market and pay attention to ALL RARE cards (as you noted you bid on all of them). You know who bids on them and what the RARE cards go for ... very slight risk at best.

I'd be more interested in how the more common cards like Nolan Ryan sell now as compared to years ago, and how Evil Knievel, Q. Jackson, Barry Sanders, etc. sell. Still relatively low print runs (autos & memorabilia), but what are those doing over time?

And as far as the 4 copies ... you only acknowledged that after somebody else did if I remember correctly, and you know (as well as everybody else on the board) that the serious bidders/SK collectors knew the print run. Also, while minor, you never mentioned that you had won the auction until somebody else pointed it out.

I am more convinced in my opinion regarding that auction being a terrible example to use and one "most likely" to help support your point -- even though you didn't TRULY know the outcome. I really was hoping you would have a better response than unrelated algebra and over/under betting examples.

Matt, I respect your passion for this product and do believe you are not trying to up the price to increase the value of your own collection. However, it is very obvious that you are trying to promote the product, whether for some benefit directly from SK or just because your "SK passion" has taken over your brain. Regardless, I believe (IMHO) that your efforts may be having the opposite effect.

You respond to EVERY SINGLE post now, and in my opinion really aren't answering or defending your position well in many instances ... while others are valuable information and succinctly written.

While I know I'll read this post as it continues to move along, I really am done posting to it. So talk about my wife, my 3 boys, my career, my IQ, or anything about me, I won't bother defending. It's been a treat, but ... I AM O-U-T !!!

No, it's not because I don't give my word that I'm lying. I don't know where you get that. lol.

I won't entertain the questions of how much I spend on cards any further. I could answer these questions, but some of you would say I was bragging if I answered them truthfully, and one member would have to leave this forum forever.

Since when is answering honest questions bragging anyway. Is the entire "gallery" sub-forum all about bragging? Perhaps it is. If so, should we be ashamed of bragging? Oh...so many questions, so many thoughts, and we're only at page 30 something.

You guys want this thread to end, so quit posting in it. I only post in response to what's written. Stop writing, and this thread is finished. Yeah right, like the hounds can stop.
OK Matt, I said I'm done with you, but i have one more left in me. After this, it's good-bye to you and your senselessness.

So i'm reading through some threads, and i can't help but notice every single item you post has to turn into SK. I could be talking about seeing why my dog's $hit is green, and it could turn into your damn SK and your collection, and how much you spend on things. I must say there's no doubt you have a vast collection, and you definately put out there that you have a lot to be thankful for, and have the best of everything in the world with your riches. Then, I come across this:

Stucco texture. What do you like?

You actually have the nerve to call this guy out to "perceive" like he has more than he does or whatever you go on saying. Because heaven forbid someone has something nicer than you, or would dare try to perceive it this way. You talk about him bragging but yet fail to look in the mirror. I can't stand it, i can't stand arrogance, and i HATE HATE HATE that every pull (good or bad) is compared to your wonderful Dr Price and his 4th grade unlicensed, 1933 looking cards. yes they are great; yes they have unbelieveable resale (even though the original opener sure gets raped), and yes they are nice. Because the back says game used from the right shoulder of the jersey, you believe it. I guess time will tell if anything fraudulent ever comes out of this company. For years, UD didn't have the reputation they do now. I sure hope to god; for your sake that Dr Price isn't as scumbaggy as many are. Although if it does happen, i have a feeling you'll be running from this board faster than a bat out of hell, and your lips will finally be tighter than a bullfrog's butthole.

Peace Out Forever More on SK.

Sorry I have no interest in that, but I respect your choice. I think you don't have the ethic needed to be a Dr., you can leave the school now you're losing your time.

I appreciate and respect your post TK. I'm still confused why we don't agree a bit more. I also have an accounting degree. I majored in it and have done quite well for myself. I understand statistics very well. I loved those classes I don't feel either example is horrible. In fact, I think they are more than decent.

I obviously had an idea that the card could sell well. It was still risky though. Surely you don't deny that. And let's not forget the fact that had I not bid at all, it would have still sold for more than the last one sold for, therefore illustrating an increase in value, which was the point to the whole example.

I'm not a Dr Dumbass. I'm an MBA with a CPA. Maybe you should stick to your main language and learn to clean up your posts. They are hard to read, and are even more disturbing when you are in the process of insulting someone's education level.

Apparently you haven't read all of that guy's posts. If you did, and you still feel this way, then you should be done talking to me as you again know nothing about what you post. This is further illustrated by you saying "every single item you post turns into SK". Obviously this is not even close to fact. Are you being sarcastic again? You've already demonstrated how bad you are at being sarcastic.

I'm guessing you will have many more posts in this thread. You can't be done. I can though as I don't post in this thread unless it's in response to others.

And if something bad happens in regards to SK, I will stick around and face the criticism like a man. That is how I operate. I never run with my tail tucked between my legs. I never have, and I never will. I'm not always right, and I don't win every battle, but I'm definitely not a poor sport. I take the bad with the good...the losses with the wins. It's a part of life.

Sure I have. I'm starting to think maybe ebay isn't the only place where you have two id's. It was like going to hell; 2 wheelers....I couldn't imagine the horror.

And you having the guts to do that with the posts you make is beyond anyone's comprehension. They are choppy, sloppy, and almost unreadable. Are you a taxi driver by chance, or do you work for one of those calling centers?
