1) If your on the fence about going...... GO.. Alot of people say that all the dealers are way overpriced.. well their not, i spent 250$ (one day mind you) and eventually sold everything off for a cool $55 profit.

2) Bring a backpack! very important to keep your cash and treasures safe!

3) If your going for more than a day, Go out at night! see a Cubs or White Sox Game and best of yet.... Go stuff your face! theres some good resturaunts.

4) take advantage of Grading Promotions, and free wax!, thats one of the bonuses for going to the national, ustalize it!

5) Bring as much as cash as possible, the more you have, the more fun you will have!

6) Bring cards to trade and sell! dealers are always looking for new inventory!

7) BUST WAX---- whether its 1 box or whether its 10 cases... BUST something... at Blowouts booth of course.

8) bring a snack/ water or soda- a water at the last national was 3.50!

9) If your going for Only one day, have a plan!

10) If you see a card at a certain table and are unsure if you want it/ want to look up the ebay SV, have a pad and pencil or wrie the isle and table down on your smartphone... I did this ALOT last year

HAVE FUN!

Everyone has an iPhone and iPad at these shows. Every Chicago show I've picked up cards that have made me a quick 200-800.00 profit plus more I invest in.

11.) Don't tell a vendor, 'BUT IT'S $X ON EBAY!!' This is not eBay. This is a huge show with huge overhead. He or she will not like you.

12.) Take your time to see everything. Even the stuff that's not for sale is incredible. There's always one or two T206 Wagners behind glass somewhere among literally hundreds of other incredible pieces that you won't see often at all.

Def. don't tell a vendor! A lot of times they know what they sell on eBay. They either don't want to sell, want to hook a sucker, or are leaving themselves room to negotiate down to eBay pricing.

I went last year and honestly didn't really enjoy it. I busted some wax at blowout booth. Picked up a couple PC cards. Was really looking for more prospect stuff, but majority was vintage. I am not a vintage guy, so was pretty boring to me. Guys that did have prospect stuff, was 25% over ebay and wouldn't budge. Wasn't a waste of money because I live in Baltimore, but definitely wasted my time.

Sorry to hear that, but I guess if tip #12 doesn't do it for you, I can understand. Part of my great experience was beyond the show, making new friends and seeing another collector friend that I had not seen since the Atlanta National around 1999. I usually don't sell much but some extras and cards at my garage sale but I saw quite a bit of new stuff and managed to get some really good deals on Tigers cards. I'm bummed it won't be making it back to Baltimore for a long time. I like the show area and was hoping next time the O's would be in town.

I don't believe so...you may be able to purchase it, probably at a crazy price.

Go to the Negro League vets booth, if it's there. Those guys love to talk. Last time I just sat down and was talking to guys about playing for Buck O'Neil and getting brushbacks from Satchel Paige.

Buy some stuff from them too.

I would add to bring your own baseballs or other memoribilia to get signed as you can usually buy them cheaper and in bulk from E-bay. The only thing I buy from TriStar are the HOF balls as not many people sell these and the $5 picture price is hard to beat.

1. They have HUGE convention cnters that can house this mammoth.

2. Its central to alot of states.

3. Its a reasonable drive for the big companies like Blowout and DA cardworld.

actually one of the biggest reason is they will book the show so many years out.

Tip 13) wear comfortable shoes to walk on that slab all day. Baltimore was pretty poor for tables to sit/meet up, but Chicago is pathetic. There is almost nothing.
