Can anyone provide DETAILED information on how the Panini Wrapper Redemption works? I know you have to buy X amount of cards to receive Y amount of packs and you have to open them in front of a Panini rep, but I've heard lots of people talking about massive lines and packs running out.

I guess what I'd like to know is, what do I have to do to avoid massive lines and avoid missing out on the packs? I am basically going to the national specifically for the packs this year so I am willing to work my schedule around that. Does it start Wednesday? Thursday? Friday? Is there a better time to go? I expect to wait, but since this is my priority I want to minimize that. Thanks.

I understand that much, but I assumed that the time frame and procedure would be similar from year to year. I've never done this before so I'm looking for input from someone who has done the redemption and knows the tips for making it as smooth as possible.

Do any of the companies sell anything at their booths competitively priced to the rest of the dealers? More specific looking at stuff from TriStar and Leaf. Just wondering if it would be better to go directly to them or just browse the places that have set up shop.

Last year there was some chaos...best bet is get your packs and try to get toward the front of the line and wait...last year they ran out of packs pretty early. Smart company, so I would think it would be a little better this year. I'm pretty sure last year they didn't do anything until Thursday.

Going to the NSCC is about the people, not about the cards, believe it or not. Most of the dealers are on eBay and that makes everything easier. I am going for my site, but also to hang out and catch up with everyone in person. There really isnt anything of note other than just everything in one big area. However, there is not another event with more collectors in the world.

On a secondary note, the giveaways are worth the look as well, but even then its not anything you cant eventually find on eBay.

Well put!! It is about the people, seeing old friends, making new, and finally putting a face to other friends you've known for a while, and just hainging out with people who are as jazzed to be there as you. But it is also about the cards! Those you can and can't afford. Just seeing the amazing stuff. I can't look thru 1966 Topps cards to build a set on Ebay (efficiently and affordable) and shows are non-existent around here. I now call the NSCC my Mecca, because it is my annual pilgrimage.

Just ask. As far as money...as much as you can. You can also search "National Convention" and go back a year and see lots of tips and questions there.

Two questions:
and wasn't overly impressed. I am pretty lazy and don't want to stand in line for hours for a shot at $10 worth of cards. I know the Bowman Platinum redemption is a 25 card
1. Are the wrapper redemptions really worth it? I saw the Topps redemptions this year set #'d to 499 with autos randomly inserted so I may go for that one.

2. Are all the redemptions pretty much gone after day 1?
