Default Marlins in 3 years

Does anyone else feel like the Marlins are building something real legit other than me?

Possible Rotation

1. Jose Fernandez - Bonafied Ace
2. Carlos Rodon - Race between Houston and them to get him # 1 Overall
3. Jacob Turner - looked really solid since recall
4. Nathan Eovaldi - also looked solid recently
5. Heaney/Slowey/Conley/someone else?

OF
Yelich, Ozuna, Marisnick or Stanton replacement (most likely from trade of Stanton)

Infield
Moran, Hech, 2B(?), 1B(Logan Morrison or ?), Brantly at C

I know the lineup looks a little bare but for fun lets say they trade Stanton to the Rangers. The package would most likely include Profar/ Olt or Moreland and someone else.

Slide Profar in at short and Hech over to second and that is a very solid MI defensively. With that pitching staff evolving I think the Marlins could be very formidable in a few years.

Thoughts?

While I agree they have some very good young talent that will develop over the next few years, they will not have an entire team of homegrown talent. Some guys won't pan out, some guys will get hurt, some guys will be traded, but some may become stars.

No, or at least I don't think so. I think the cardinals (great team now WITH stacked far system) and pirates are the most set for a while.

They've got a plan in place.

Step 1. Win the WS in 2017
Step 2. Have another fire sale

I see nothing impressive about that myself. A few good players, but nothing that scares me if my team is facing them.

Yeah, but with gausman struggling (had a nice start and still young) and bundy injury issues some question marks. They have great young talent as in Machado (future MVP, perennial all star IMO) and adam jones who keeps getting better, and others like Davis, weiters, etc.... They could have a chance soon

Yeah, tons of prospects with talent and potential like Hanson, Polanco, Meadows, Taillon, Bell, Cole.

Will never be impressed by anything they build because of how terribly they operate. Anyway, impressive OF, but not that impressed by anything else there. I'll take the other NL East teams.

I agree, but a lot of these guys are already producing on the ML level. I think a few of them have major upside potential.

While I agree with you, that's not the point of the post.

I'd care to bet you'd eat those words in a few years. That rotation will be as good as any in baseball IMO.

Agreed. Figured I would have gotten laughed off the forum if I put him down as the second basemen of the future. Lucas has been solid as well.

I think you'll be singing a different tune in a few years.

People will hate, but I completely agree. Add nicolino to SP, and we also have henderson Alvarez. In June we were 16-10 and were on fire! We're for sure more set than the phillies and mets(hitting wise)

no, because within 2.5 years half of those players will already have been traded away

I don't see any real Star Power in that lineup once they trade Stanton. And even if they keep Stanton, He has proven the old one player doesn't make a team cliché, because even with him healthy, the Marlins suck. The infield has no one at all, Im sorry, but Hecheverria, Moran, etc. isn't an elite infield, even with Profar factored in. Just my opinion though.

As a die hard Jays fan, I always wonder why people bash Marlins management. They win WS and then they unload and win the WS again. They already have 2 trophy's. I know the Jays won in '92 and '93 but haven't sniffed the post season since. So something the Marlins have done has worked. I'll take that management any year!

When you list all a team's top pieces in a future roster, it will always look impressive.

Because they operate in a deceitful manner, and I really, really doubt it'll ever happen again under current management as multiple signs point towards a future sale of the franchise.

Yeah, they had two amazing talents in Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis in 2003, along with a very solid group of MLB players. Even with Stanton, it will be a while before the Marlins are competitive again (unless EVERYTHING goes right for them).

Stanton is not getting traded. The pitching staff is loaded with talent MLB and MiLB. Yellich, Marisnick Moran Jensen all above average talent. They are competing now and will compete the next couple years as the OP has pointed out. For everybody bashing the FO we have 2 rings enough said.

The rings mean nothing. They are not competing now either, a hot month is not competing. Stanton will be traded, like it or not, it will happen likely this offseason.

1. No, they're the furthest thing from competing

2. No, they will not just magically compete next year. Players don't develop from minor leaguers with raw talent to prime time ballplayers. It will be at least 3 years before the Marlins start to "compete."
