Likely true, and something that should always be kept in mind.

Last year, all 50 clue card were designed specifically for the code. They were not at all part of the set. I'd have to say he must have had some influence over those...

It was actually a murder mystery and you had to solve who the murderer was. That was one of the layers. Next was figuring out how to actually SUBMIT your answer, which is always the final piece of the Ginter puzzle (well, at least it has been in the past )

Not really. I mean other codes involved parallels and Topps knows exactly what drives the Ginter bus: the code is a huge deal. The secondary market for the cards explodes every year when people think they know what the code cards are. Variations, parallels, errors, reprints-I think all of that is purposeful. Matt may not be in charge of all those things, but they know that folks are looking for them to be part of the code and I would guess he has a some influence over how those things are done.

The complexity of some of the codes in the past would require it. Both the cover cards and the actual clues. I don't think he gets to set the whole agenda, but I don't think they do a set without him having input. But that's my 2c, what do I know.

Well, you may be right. I do agree with you, the code is a huge part of A&G. But can you see any examples in past code programs where the text on the cards explicitly drives the solution to the code (or rather, where if different text were present the program would not be possible)?

well in 2009 ginter, text and background color proves to be vital.

and now in 2013 ginter #100 bill walton has red background and #350 has green background http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/5472153-post122.html

i don't know if it actual clues or just cover card.

I hate when they do that, because then it is sometimes very hard to tell if it is just an artist's drawing or maybe a clue; Can't tell which is which

Color yes, but I think the code was designed around the preexisting text, with the boxes added around the L's.

It wouldn't be a very satisfying code if you could tell very easily.

Just curious, besides the color variations and the supposed random symbols, does anyone feel they actually have a valid lead on the code? Seems like there's been no information given to start.

It took the Codemaster 3.5 weeks to deliver the poem in 2011. I believe yesterday's tweet may have been the start of a new poem.

Be patient.

I think I may have something but I'm still working on it. Hard to tell if it will pan out or not at this point.
